Heh, when I am on my own with the camera I talk to myself a lot! Is this common or just the first sign of madness?. I also swear a lot when the wind blows or when the subject moves! :D

Probably is the first sign of madness, but ive been on a steady path downwards for ages now. :D I now find myself saying 'hello' to every insect or bird I see. Then sometimes i'll have full blown(one sided) conversation with an insect. lol.

really like no.1 and no.4

I usually go down to newton bewley do you know it messiah? Nr Hartlepool, it's great in August/september when the dragonflies are rife too. Then there are the seals just down the road.

I don't Wez. Is that just up from Seal sands then? I wouldn't mind having a look around the marshes around that area. Thats if your allowed that near the Powerplant. Another place I want to go to sometime is the train depot just outside Thornaby station. Its got loads of old rusty trains and wagons etc which would make great subjects.

cowpen bewley is a great nature reserve with a lake, a hill with great views all round, plently of focal points there, then there's seal sands just down the road, also seaton carew beach and powerstation.

Great shots King4aDay - I aspire to get where you are.
1 & 4 for me (i think that 4 just steals it though).

Think that I need to get a flash - took the pic below today but was struggling for shutter speed & a decent aperture for dof.

4 and 5 are brilliant, can't wait for my macro filter to arrive!

Took a few earlier but my s5600 just isn't up to it without the adapter, can't focus close enough to get enough detail.

Buff, what was used to take that pic? The exif data doesn't seem to be there.

Pretty good effort imo, adjust levels and it will look better.

I have a Canon ringflash and it has made macro photography much more enjoyable.
The colour and contrast is much stronger and the subject leaps from the background.

Sigma is 3rd party ;)

Not when using a Sigma lens though is it. I mean a third party to the lens manufacturer. Ie, do you have to have the flash made by the company that makes your lens, or can you get ones with universal fittings?

Well the ringflash I use will screw into the filter thread of any lens as long as you buy the right size adaptor. I'm pretty certain the Nikon R1/R1C1 attaches in the same way.

Complete non-issue as far I'm aware.
