Afternoon all,

Looking for some advice after I bought my first gaming PC from OCUK.

Recently bought MS Flightsim and I'm looking to buy a new computer to go with it since mine just isn't up to scratch any more. Ideally I'd like to buy something that can handle Flightsim at its top settings so something with at least i7/Ryzen 7, 32GB RAM and a GPU to boot.

I haven't the knowledge of the will power to build my own and because I'm a dinosaur I've purchased the disc version but every time I start looking at a PC configurator on here, I'm either well into the £2000+ mark or I'm looking at underwhelming specs and parts such as PSU. I have absolutely no idea what motherboard I should be looking at I'm considering taking up a hobby like bird watching at this rate.

Can anyone assist and point me in the right direction? My budget is around £1200 but I can be flexible around that mark.

Thanks in advance!

I’ve done it a little playing around, just wondering if anyone can take a look at the below and let me know if I’m somewhere within the high end graphics area, I’m trying to use the MS Specs guide to get me there!

My basket at Overclockers UK:
  • 1 x OcUK Gaming Falcon Gaming PC - AMD Ryzen 7 3700X = £1,285.04
    • Case - Phanteks Eclipse P350X Glass Digital RGB Midi Tower Case - Black/White
    • CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 3700X Eight Core 4.4GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail
    • Memory - Team Group Vulcan Z T-Force 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C16 3000MHz Dual Channel Kit - Grey
    • Primary Solid State Drive - TeamGroup 250GB Vulcan SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps 3D NAND Solid State Drive
    • Lighting - Phanteks RGB LED Strip Starter Kit (PH-LEDKT_CMBO)
    • Graphics Card - Powercolor Radeon RX 5700 XT Red Devil 8GB GDDR6 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Total: £1,299.14 (includes shipping: £14.10)

The 5700Xt is a 2 year old GPU now. An RTX 3060 Ti similar price and better, if you can obtain one.

▷ Palit GeForce RTX 3060Ti Dual 8GB GDDR6 PCI-E… | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

The storage on that is fast but way to small. A solid 500 gig best for NVME and from Western Digital.

▷ WD Blue SN550 500GB NVME M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3 S… | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

The RAM is slow, optimum speed for Ryzen is 3200 Mhz speed. Or better still 3600 Mhz for similar prices. One below is fast, just an example.

▷ Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 16GB (2x8GB) 3… | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

A B550 board would be ideal, will enable you to upgrade to Zen 3 and something like the 5800X if staying AMD route. I installed the one below for a build, solid board.

▷ MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk (AMD AM4) B550 ATX Moth… | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

This Phanteks case is rated highly I believe.

▷ Phanteks Eclipse P500 Air ATX Case Tempered G… | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

Just some suggestions to look at.

Thanks for the response! I do genuinely appreciate it, back to the drawing board it is then

I don’t suppose you know, if I add these things parts together in my basket, would I be able to arrange for OcUK to build it for an additional fee?

I know OCUK allow you to amend a build from set parts. However, perhaps you should contact them to see if they do provide that service.

I always build my own PC's now. So the last time, I ordered a pre-built was in 2004.
