Hi guys. I'm coming back to build my 2nd PC from the good guys at OcUK, having made my first one in January 2004. The new machine us due :-)

OK. It's going to be a Shuttle again, and there is one I believe that will take dual-core Intel. If I give you the inventory, could you please tell me if I have got the sockets, compatibility etc correct?

- Chassis/motherboard: Shuttle XPC SD31P [ top item on this page ]
- CPU: Intel Pentium 4 940 [ 3rd item on this page ]
- Memory: 2 x 1GB Geil PC5300 DDR2 [ 1st item on this page ]
- Graphics card: XFX Geforce 6800 XT PCI-X [ 1st item on this page ]
- Hard drive: WD Raptor 150GB 10,000 RPM 16MB [ 6th item on this page ]

The rest of the parts I can work out for myself i.e. DVD-RAM drive, floppy and any peripherals. I just wanted to check that the socket is matched and the chipset is OK for this CPU/barebones system.

Thanks!

they should work fine, but I would be tempted to go for the "Intel Pentium 4 805 Dual Core" its like half the price and are supposed to be the best overclocking chip on the market, should easly reach 3.2 ghz even in a shuttle

Thanks, and thanks for the advice about overclocking. I'm glad that it will work, and that Shuttle have brought out a dual-core ready chassis :-)

I'm going to order from OcUK around six weeks time.
