Ive been turning this over in my head for a few weeks now trying to decide which is the best route to take.

My current setup is a m-atx build in a Silverstone Sugo 03 which i managed to drop :P

2.66ghz e6750 core2duo 4gb 800mhz ddr2, nvida 9600GT which replaced my ATI 2900XT after it got squished in the fall, 320gb WD sata hdd, 520 corsair psu.

Currently i use my pc mostly for gaming, although i work a bit with Maya, photoshop and a bit of video encoding.

Im not sure whether to go for a core2quad which will save some money as this will be a complete rebuild including a new case, or go for the i7 bundle or to just wait a bit longer?

At the moment im looking at spending upto £1000.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You can afford an i7 upgrade but gaming wise offers little performance boost over AM3. i7 major gain over AM3 is Maya, photoshop and video encoding so depends how much/important that is to you.

Thanks for the replies guys, think i will go with the Phenom for now and build a seperate rig around christmas.

Sorry i didnt respond sooner but im out in the middle of the Spanish mountains with only a shoddy 3g dongle connecting me to the outside world, reception is sketchy at best GPRS for the lose! :D
