Build advice

After a midrange PC build and have read many spec builds but it's more confusing to me than ever. If anyone remembers the old bartons, then the opterons ....my pc knowledge has deteriorated since then. The last time I wanted an upgrade, all the rage was on the Q6600 and through the confusion, I just bought a Dell having the Q6600 (regret, and therefore want to self-build this time).

I'm not after bleeding edge, a good midrange system around 450 for the base only with no operating system required.

Not after a complete spec, the advice I'm seeking at the moment is:

Q: What is 'in' chip/mobo/gfx card best value combo to look at now?

System quietness is a major factor as is the ability to play some of the recent games e.g. crysis/mw2 etc.

PS. My monitor resolution is 1920x1200.

Many thanks in advance.

Thanks Stulid - especially for the chip advice and link.

You have two psu's in the link - is the corsair better?

Also, is the "in" motherboard [MSI H67MA-E35 Intel H67] ??

I take it the gfx card [OcUK ATI Radeon HD 6870] is the new benchmark also!

thanks again.

Have fixed the two PSU issue.

The H67 board has SATA3.0 and USB3.0 unlike the lesser H61 boards.

A P67 board is better (I have put it in the above spec as theres more money without the other PSU) as it just has more ports and Ram slots, you cant overclock these CPU's as you must have a "K" CPU and P67 or Z68 board.

So put a i3 2120 in the spec for the maximum cpu speed for your budget

The price for that 6870 makes it a great price/performance - http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/290?vs=313

EDIT!!! The weekly ofers have changed, heres the updated spec
