Hi All,
New member, 1st post, so here goes.
I have recently decided to switch from a high end laptop to a new high end desktop.
My build idea is as follows:
Couple of questions re this selection:
Finally a general query re sourcing the components. I have managed, through Google shopping (all reputable retailers), to source the parts for a little over £2000 (£2016.03 to be pedantically precise).
My question about the costings is, are there any retailers that will give a discount if I decide to buy all the components from them? Kind of like a full system bundle. Do Overclockers do this type of deal?
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated
Lastly having lurked on here for a couple of days, it seems like a friendly, knowledgeable and very active community. I look forward to being part of it.
Cheers,

New member, 1st post, so here goes.
I have recently decided to switch from a high end laptop to a new high end desktop.
My build idea is as follows:
- NZXT Phantom 410 - Black
- Gigabyte GA-X79-UD3
- Intel i7 3820 3.6 GHz Processor
- Corsair Hydro Series H100 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
- Corsair Enthusiast Series TX850 V2 Power supply - 850 Watt
- Kingston HyperX 16 GB : 4 x 4 GB Memory - DIMM 240-pin - 1600 MHz ( PC3-12800 ) - 1.65 V
- Gigabyte GV N690D5-4GD-B Graphics card - 4 GB - GDDR5 SDRAM
- Intel 120 GB Internal SSD Serial ATA-600 2.5" SSD 520 Series
- ASUS VG278H - 27"
Couple of questions re this selection:
- Are all the components compatible?
- Is the 850 Watt PSU sufficient to power this rig?
- Any bottlenecks with this combination of components?
- Any heat issues with space in the NZXT Phantom 410 Midi Tower?
- Will I require extra fans for the GPU, or is the built in cooling acceptable?
- Will I require any extra fans in the case other than the Phantom 410 standard?
- Have I missed anything out? (I don't need an optical drive or 2nd HDD)
Finally a general query re sourcing the components. I have managed, through Google shopping (all reputable retailers), to source the parts for a little over £2000 (£2016.03 to be pedantically precise).
