Looking at replacing my machine (finally). How does this look as a starting point? Don't want to go over £2500 really.

Considerations:

- Not sure about going X99 or Z97?
- Is 750W PSU enough?
- Are coolers like the Corsair H100i worth it? I like the sound of maintenance-less watercooling.
- Might look at other cases
- Am I missing any bits? I have a monitor, KB, mouse, sound card, optical drive that will be transplanted.

Cheers

EDIT: Forgot to mention I game at 1440p

Hi,

If you only game then all you need is Z97+i5 or i7.

Looking at what you specced,

Yes a 750W PSU is good enough for this, but i would get a bigger one if you wanted to add a 2nd TitanX (you dont have to for 1440)

The 4TB black is expensive and a more normally priced seagate or red, blue green etc will save money.

Not sure that cooler works with that RAM on this board.

Cheers, I like the case and corsair cooler options you've chosen. I assume the cases fit the radiators?

Do Barracudas not have a bit of a bad rep for reliability or is that not the case anymore?

Regarding the GPU, I just want the best single-card solution available now and hopefully it will last a few years. Maybe the Titan + your Z97 build is the best compromise on value?

The case and coolers do fit.

I've had a few different HDD such as Seagate Barracuda (different sizes and versions) WD Red, Black, Green etc, none have ever failed me.

What do you currently have now by the way?

And AMD will have new 300 series announced and nvidia will have a GTX980 ti/Ultra to compete and steal their thunder.

P.S you also do not need the xtra cables as they are just for added bling.

Thanks for your help so far.

I currently have a E8500 C2D @ 4Ghz, 4GB DDR2 and a b-grade R280X from ocuk that is artifacting in games.

Far enough as long as its something worth upgrading from and not a 2500K or something newer.

I think I originally built my rig in 2007. Apart from a new PSU and the R280X it's lasted me well.

The next-gen consoles finished it off though.:(
