Hi,
I am going to build a pc for my sister, her budget is £450-£470

it will be used mainly for internet browsing and Microsoft word etc. light gaming like the sims 4 etc.

Could somebody possibly help me figure a build out please. I have only used intel CPUs myself so I am clueless on anything else. She wants something that will last.

thank you

For browsing the web, I suggest for ease of use 8 to 16 gig of RAM. 16 gig would be better. The more tabs you have open, the more RAM you use. With 16 gigs, however you could open 100's. Corsair is very compatible. You could get the 16 gig version below for about £70.00. If gaming and browsing 16 Gig would be much better for use.

Corsair LPX £64.99 RAM DD4 with a decent speed, 3000 Mhz. If needs be for compatibility it will run slower if XMP fails.

▷ Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-2… | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

Latest budget Intel CPU's, Comet Lake. £109.99. Integrated GPU, Intel 630 integrated graphics, should run Sims 4. Quad core and 8 threads.

▷ Intel Core i3-10100 3.6GHz (Comet Lake) Socke… | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

A cheap Asrock motherboard, but compatible with that CPU and with video outputs. £62.99. Plus two slots for RAM.

▷ Asrock H410M-HDV (Socket LGA 1200) DDR4 Micro… | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

Lian Li Lancool case, budget but looks cool. £61.99. Plus tempered glass and large cooling fans with RGB!

▷ Lian Li Lancool 215 Midi Tower ARGB, Tempered… | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

Corsair Power Supply 550 watt £44.99

▷ Corsair CV Series CV550 550W 80 Plus Bronze P… | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

A 1 terabyte SSD a Western Digital Blue. £83.99, solid and fast/reliable storage.

▷ WD Blue 3D NAND 1TB 2.5" SATA 6Gbps Solid Sta… | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

A well reviewed and regarded CPU cooler from Coolermaster only £29.99.

▷ Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler | OcUK (overclockers.co.uk)

With this build you get fast web browsing, storage, 8 thread CPU, onboard graphics for gaming. Essentially you are getting a top tier CPU from 4 years back that will be on latest platform from Intel. I chose Intel due to onboard graphics and your previous experience. If you want to spend more, might I advise on getting better power supply. It is a reputable brand with decent RMA support, but you can get better. I double-checked and CPU may not come with any cooler in the box. Anyway, this CPU cooler will last years and be silent.

Hope it assists.
