Delivery arrived today of...

Ryzen 2700x, MSI x470 carbon pro mobo, 16 GB of G-Skill Trident Z RGB 3000mhz, Corsair RM 750x PSU and a Corsair Carbide spec 06 case.

And I just can not be bothered to put it all together.

First time I've ever bought greff that I didn't want to throw together as soon as it was delivered.
Actually feel like paying someone to do it for me.

Anyone else ever had this "build apathy" that I'm experiencing?

Wait until you can find it fun, unless you need it now..

Most of the "fun" from building stems from being able to create something decent.

I ordered my newest ITX rig parts (8086k, z370i, etc.) in August. When I found out the SF600 plat was gonna be delayed I gave up.

Finally built it 2 weeks ago :D

I bought a new bigger case with better airflow ready to accept a whole new system in the near future but it took me 4 months to get up the enthusiasm to actually do the swap to start with. Plus I didn't even give the PC Gods a blood sacrifice from a random jagged case edge or rivet so I wasn't even sure it'd still work after the swap! :D

I used to spend weeks selecting components, loved the whole build process, the time spent resolving issues that always arise. Developed major sleep deprivation issues which has had a profound effect on my mental facilities and I have now no interest in building a PC in fact when I decided that I need to upgrade I will probably buy a pre-built.

Are you a rich and jaded person? Buying things you don't need wont help. Especially if you've reached the point where the purchase high is wearing off before you've even worn it. Find something meaningful to do, it's the best way out.

I used to build loads but recently I get those nice OcUK folks to do it for me
This is probably what I'll do next time. My spare time is far too valuable to be spending it frustrated and swearing at things that won't work quite right. :p

I’ll give you £100 for the lot. Spend it on a slap-up meal for two and you’ll feel much better.

It's not unusual that the idea of doing something and the planning / research can seem more exciting than the reality of using what you've purchased.

Best thing is just to get on with it, once you start you'll probably want to keep going.

Better to spend it frustrated and swearing at posters on here, huh? :p

All my equipment is a few years old now so perhaps things have taken a backward step but I can't remember the last time something wasn't just plug n play. I thought the days of having to mess about with settings were long gone (excluding overclocking). The only issues I seem to get now is when windows update decides to break something for no good reason.

Stop thinking about it and get on with it :p

I think one of my problems was each new gen seems to only give a 15-20 boost over the last gen, it all seems so incremental, I remember loving the early builds going from cyrix to athlon, from athlon to core duo and I was amazed at the performance boost I got from my upgrade to a Q6600.

I have an NH-D14 heatsink, bought at the end of the summer for my Ryzen 1700. Now that the climate has resorted to normal UK autumn, I feel no rush to strip the PC down to install it. It is just sat on the top of a cupboard waiting sadly.

The day that becomes a regular occurrence, I'll seek therapy. :p

Seriously, I've had rubbish luck with faulty hardware and instability on new builds in the past so I don't want to go there again. I suppose I don't treat it like a hobby anymore as I have less patience and rarely tinker these days.

Ha, I kind of know how you feel.

I had a Vega 56 delivered today but since i have got home from work, i just cant be bothered to install it yet. Mainly because there is always some issue or bug that you have to sort out with a new piece of hardware and i cant be dealing with that tonight :p

Maybe tomorrow..

My current PC is self built, my next one will be OCUK built.

They’re so good at it, it makes no sense to fudge together all my components, when they can do it so well and stylishly.
