So the XBOX has bitten the dust, and the media player is about on its last legs so I'm hoping to consolidate and get a PC that I can game on and also use as my media player

I'm not sure how to copy my basket into this post, but here's what I've gone for on the first pass


  • Gigabyte HD 7770 OC 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card [GV-R777OC-1GD]

  • AMD A6-5400K Black Edition 3.60GHz (Socket FM2) APU Trinity Dual Core Processor*

  • Bitfenix Prodigy Mini ITX Case
  • Swift 500W V2 Silent Power Supply
  • ASRock FM2A75M-ITX AMD A75 Chipset (Socket FM2) DDR3 Mini ITX Motherboard [FM2A75M-ITX]

  • Crucial Ballistix Sport 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Dual Channel Kit

I've already got a copy of the OS and dvd drive kicking about.

Will this handle recent\upcoming games (hitman, xcom, skyrim + elder scrolls online & GTA when it finally releases)? I'm not bothered about playing on Ultra settings, but want it to look comparable (better if poss) than the xbox while being as close to silent as possible when playing MKV's

Will it all fit in the case?
Have missed anything obvious (it's been about 8 years since I built a pc)?
Are there better options for any of these components?

I'm trying to keep the cost to as near to £350 (can push to £400 if there's something that will give me a big boost in performance for the extra £'s. I'd also like to be able to upgrade in the future, so could the MB etc handle a better CPU ?

everything looks ok except for 2 things the psu is a nto a good one, those things last about 5 minutes your better getting a branded one like xfx, seasonic or corsair they work a treat and secondly the motherboard isnt great either if you could stretch to it a gigabyte motherboard would be better as the technical support for asrock is awful and so is their motherboards

With regards to motherboards, I've 1 person at work who's never had problems and 1 who isn't a fan. I might look into comparable alternatives (unless you had one in mind. . . . )
