This rig will be for uni work and some gaming. Will also be requiring the hyper threading of the 3770k.

What Im not sure about.
I will more than likely be going into a triple monitor setup so am unsure about the GFX I know a lot say that you can get away with 2gb vram but want to not have to upgrade for quite a bit.

May be going for another of the GFX cards for sli shortly after depending on how it copes, so have the 850w psu. But I know theres not much difference between 670 and 680 but Im tempted.

Keyboard I will be getting from elsewhere due to being my first mechanical and can get it with mx browns since Ill be doing a lot of typing and some gaming so its the best compromise between the two? Also considering a filco.

Tempted to upgrade the ram to the dominator platinum but itll only be for looks so I dont think I'll bother.

This rig will more than likely be CPU and GPU custom looped in the coming months.

Thanks if youre reading this.. Have I missed anything?

You may want to change to the desktop version of the SSD, (I'm guessing there is a difference between the two types)

You could get away with dropping the PSU down to the 750W version, it will be enough to power SLI 670s

If you are going to do a custom water loop then I would bother to spend a lot of money on a H100, a cheep £25 cooler will do the job for now.

Desktop and notebook versions are the identical bare drive just have different accessories with them from what Ive read.

PSU Yeah I know I previously spec'd it for sli 680 but more than tempted to just use 670's now since theres a saving for a little performance difference. I'll still be able to overclock to the max and have more hdd installed at a later date granted they only take a few watts on a 750w psu?

Tempted to go to custom loop just unsure when. And it'll probably just go in our system downstairs if I do. What cooler would you recommend to overclock highly with and which is still fairly quiet until I go custom loop?

Thanks for the reply.

Only thing you might have missed if you need one is an optical drive. And they aren't that expensive:

YOUR BASKET
1 x OcUK 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £13.99
Total : £17.90 (includes shipping : £3.26).

EDIT:

Also this is true as far as I know, and that case should have room for the SSD anyway. I've got the phantom enthusiast case and it's got some screw holes in the drive bays that fit ssd's so you should be fine with just the bare drive and not need any of the desktop adapter accessories.

I might aswell just whack an optical drive in there since I use them occassionally. Cheers.
Yh or otherwise I'll just use some double sided tape :D

That's an insane amount of computing power.
As long as Im coming in below around 2.4k. I dont really mind. I like to have nice things and need to buy everything (minus OS) since having a laptop the past few years, including 2 boogie bugs. Dont worry I'll post pics when I build it...

Re tri-monitor set up, Sli 670's should be fine, and I know there are a few guys on the forums who game fine with 2gb 670s on a triple monitor setup, so you probably don't need to spend the extra cash on the 4gb 670s, also 750w will easily power Sli 670s as said earlier.

I'll have a look through and see if I can find the thread about triple monitor setups, if you're looking for better RAM look at Samsung Green RAM, some of the best stuff out there.

That's the thing. Ive seen varied information about if the vram is neccesary when using a tri monitor set up. I dont know whether it would be better to have now for a year or so in the future and other future games or what.

For the samsung green, Ive read that its good for overclocking but will I get a better overclocking result filling all 4 dimms or would I be better just using 2x 8GB? Or was that just for years ago?

I'll have a think about it, atleast then I wouldnt have the issue of dodgy pumps if I were to go for one of these.

Also to anyone as I previously asked would I be better off using 2x8 or 4x4gb module as a while a go I remember reading that filling all the dimm slots can cause you to get a lower overall overclock, or was this inaccurate or true but only for older components?

Less memory sticks (DIMMS) is best:) less strain on the memory controller.

Also theres another cooler thats a great price/performance bargain,
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-036-CM&groupid=701&catid=2330&subcat=2341

And of course make sure you get low profile RAM to clear underneath the coolers fan.
So would you personally go for 4dimms of samsung green (and gain the benefit of the good memory)or go for any (recommendations) of 2x8gb to cause less strain and get a better possible overclock?.

Does it really make much difference in the possible overclock like 0.1ghz or does it vary like how your cpus do due to the silicon?

Also thanks for the info.

Depends how far you are wanting to overclock?

But if you get 2X8GB now, that leaves room for more later.

Also remember you need a suitable OS to address that much RAM (Win7 memory limits)

I doubt Id use more than 16gb and I know it all depends on the chip but Im thinking 4.6 and anything else is a benefit. So would you say get the samsung green and fill all 4 of the dimm slots?
Also have a copy of win7 professional 64bit

Stay clear of the H100 !
B/c of the issues that have plagued them previously or are they still ongoing? And since I dont want to mess about RMA'ing you would reccomend what in place of it, this as previously recommended?

4.6Ghz is like average (maybe even under, haven't looked for a while), go for four sticks then.

Well if it only makes a small difference using all four dimms up, and considering smasung green has such good reviews I think I willl use up all four dimm slots up then.

Obviously if I get a good chip I may push for more, to get my moneys worth...

Thanks for the info/opinions.

Right last bit before I proceed to checkout.

Been thinking about previous couple posts and Ive gone back to preferring 2x8gb dimms. Thinking the corsair vengeance unless there is anything else thats better.

And cooler wise not sure, which air coolers will not have any issues with the above ram and which are on the same sort of performance as the h100.

Also are the H100's still having problems? Since I still think it gives better aesthetics and easy access to the RAM.
