Hi guys, finalising my PC build, would love it if you knowledgeable people could check it out and make any suggestions in terms of compatibility and if i could improve it in any way. Also if anyone could suggest a good case please.

Also if i could make it any cheaper without losing much performance that would be amazing.

This setup is intended for 3D modelling/rendering, design etc. as well as gaming.

One last thing, how do i post the setups in the nice neat list like you guys do?

Many thanks :)

Thanks for the input guys, I think I'm set on the 4770k just for the raw processing power that i require for my work, coupled with the 32Gb RAM. It's just choosing the mobo and RAM that are all compatible with each other.

Last 2 suggested builds are spot on, thanks guys :) are there any suggestions on things to change/remove to lower the price a little? I know im asking a lot with the specs im aiming for.

Hey guys, following everything I learnt from you yesterday, made a couple revisions.

Decided to change the graphics card to something slightly cheaper, went for the cheaper motherboard (still ok for overclocking?). And also went for one 16Gb kit of 1600MHz RAM, with the intention of buying a second kit later on.

Couple more questions:
Graphics card - a good choice? My main use will be 3D modelling/rendering but i would like to be able to play games at decent settings.

Am I better off going for 2133MHz RAM as opposed to 1600MHz, is the difference that big?

Many thanks.

That looks good.. theres not a huge difference between 1600mhz RAM and 2133/2400Mhz, but its falling in price so if you can get faster RAM for the same money, why not? :)

Thew RAM you've picked is great though. :)

That cooler is too big for the case (due to some un-inspired speccing from someone), this one will fit (and is a great cooler): http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-037-AL

Ah, thanks for the heads up there :)

So now the only part im not finalised on is the graphics card, looking to spend £250 or less there. I was attracted to the 4Gb 670 and it seemed good for the price. Made a change to Nvidia due to its support from the programs i use for work. If anyone has any extra input or suggestions in that area I'm all ears :)

Not unless he uses high resolutions and large models.

I use a 40 inch 1080p screen while im working/gaming and viewport performance is something I want to improve, also using VRAY RT for rendering it takes full advantage of the GPU. I just assumed the 4Gb would be significantly better than the 2Gb in this respect.

Regardless if anyone has any suggestions in the £250 price range, doesnt even have to be a 670 then I'd like to hear it.

I think we're getting near the final spec :)

I'm still debating over whether getting 16Gb RAM now and then another 16Gb later or just bite the bullet and get it now.

Bearing in mind that this pc could be running at high load for days at a time i decided to max out on fans, not sure whether this is necessary and whether i need a fan controller?

Hey guys me again :)

Still working hard on finalising the build before i finally commit. One last thing I've been checking out is the aesthetics of the case, I know it's not hugely important but i thought I'd check it out.

The following caught my eye:
YOUR BASKET
1 x BitFenix Prodigy Mini-ITX Cube Case - Magma Orange £69.95

Purely because the aesthetics really fit with the corporate identity of my business for which the PC will be used so for a few quid more, why not? :)

Am i still ok in terms of clearance, CPU cooler and everything else fitting without issue?

As an easy solution for a wifi connection is the following the sort of thing I'm in need of?

Well a lot of thinks will have to change for that.

It's an ITX case which is a lot smaller than a standard ATX (which we have been speccing). ATX is 21cm x 30cm and ITX is 17cm x 17 cm.. (motherboard sizes).

It can be done but it may cost more and you may have to cut back on the PSU (obviously no Xfire) and amount of HDD's (if you want a long GPU)

Fair comment, was just a thought and a spout of impracticality :). I'll stick with the previous case because I know that's the best choice in my price range and for the specs I want.

Sorry for being a pain! :)

Right here we go, I'm days away from finally ordering and as usual I've been messing around with the base spec you guys gave me. :) I've now decided that overclocking and SLI are future options so I've tried to future proof in that sense.

If someone could cast their idea over this build I'd greatly appreciate it, and as always I'm open to suggestions and money savers :)

I'm more than open to a build spec from you using the main components i listed :) one other part I was questioning was the mobo, is that a good choice for oc and sli?

Okay took onboard the suggestions you guys had, new PSU and upgraded to the Corsair 500r rather than 300r. It offers better cooling and is preinstalled with more fans so i could cut out the additional ones.

Parts I'm unsure about are the motherboard and RAM, the RAM above is out of stock so i changed for something else, am I fine with dual channel?

Thanks for the suggestion, will look into that mobo and will take your suggestion of SSD. Although i keep changing my mind every 5 seconds I think the 500r is the case I want to go for, not a huge fan of the bitfenix one.

Overall though, I'm good for compatibility and space, clearance etc?
