So... I am considering buying a new pc (or well, building it) - it is a gaming build, nothing too crazy - would like not having to worry about it too much for the next few years, even if it requires me to obviously lower graphics in new games in a couple of years. Here is what I had in mind:
i5-6600k (not sure how much performance gain there would be in a 6700k for gaming?)
EVGA SuperNova GS 650W modular
Samsung 250GB 750 EVO (I got a mechanical storage harddrive I salvage from my old build, so I only need this for OS and games)
Avexir Core Red Series 16GB (2x8GB) 2400MHz
Zotac 1080 AMP Extreme
Noctua NH-D15 for a nice a cool CPU
MSI Z170A XPOWER Titanium Edition (mostly because of the stylish looks, I realise it may very well be a tad overkill)
And for the case I was thinking of the Anidees AI Crystal.

Basically what I am wondering is if anything is completely wrong with the build, or if it is all looking somewhat alright? I got some experience overclocking, so I prefer having that option open, and I am building it myself.

Thanks in advance,
Shamankian

Thanks for the reply Sweols,

Overall budget is probably 1800 gbp, could be modified a bit up if something specific catches my eye.
And regarding the case, it could be replaced if something is looking sleek - the reason I liked the AI Crystal is solely for the aesthetics. I had actually considered the Phanteks Enthoo Pro case, since it is quite similar, I am just not quite sure I like it as much.

Would 550w be enough, even if I dabble in overclocking?
Also, the closed loops watercooling (like the hydro H110i) compare well with the Noctua (which was a biiiiiig thing in the past at least - I recall reading a lot about them) or is it more of a noise thing?

Hello,

Computer cases are very much an individual preference. There're plenty of cases to choose from and at the end of the day, you're the one that'll be looking at it from a day to day basis. Any phantek product is generally a good choice. Before settling down on a computer case or any product, I always read several reviews I like and then out comes a winner. Youtube is particulary good for computer cases ( personal preference )

Generally speaking, 550w from gold rated PSU, should be more than ample even with overclocking. If you're intending to crossfire or SLI, i'd suggest to go for 750w, if not 850w to be on the safe side. Superflower and EVGA seems to be the choice at the moment, with 10yr warranties in some cases. If you're worried about 550w, get 650w if it eases your mind. End of the day, you need to be happy with it!

AIO/Aircooler is much about preference again. AIOs and aircoolers both offer extreme cooling abilities.
Aircooling has got less moving parts and therefor less likely to breakdown.
AIO's have more moving parts, and certain coolers have been known to leak. Although Corsair seems to be a pretty safe bet atm with warranties. AIO's doesn't need any type of maintainence, apart from dusting ( same as aircoolers ).

You've got quite a budget to play around with, so you could definantly go GTX 1080, but unless you're intending to play at 1440P, no real point. Maybe invest in a nice new 1440p screen and see the real benefit of the 1080?

Kind Regards,
Michael

Indeed, cases are very individual - I seem to have been having a somewhat hard time sourcing reviews of the AI Crystal, but I think they will be coming in from now on - so hopefully I can track one down.

I don't have any real intention of crossfire or SLI, so 550 or 650 it is - thanks! :)

I see - more decisions to play around it regarding the cooler :)

I was actually considering a new monitor as well, although it might be a month or two after the build (all depending on what the build ends up costing of course), so that was why I initially went with the 1080. But there isn't any real point between 1070 and 1080 at 1080p?

Thanks for all the advice,
Kian

If you're playing at 1080p I'd even consider one of the RX480 with aftermarket coolers. Such as Devil, Nitro plus and more. But if you're definitely going 1440p at some point you either go for a gtx 1080 or maybe even a 980 ti. Think there might even be a amd fury for less than £300..

All boils down to what you want and what you want out of it.

I see you recommended the Kingston HyperX Fury, why is that? Read/write speeds were, as far as I could tell, slower, a bit smaller (240 vs 250), and a bit pricier? Am I being blind and there is some underlying reason to choose the HyperX Fury over the Samsung EVO 750?

Some of the specs below I've added a 1TB HDD anyway.
