It will all fit and work but theres some really odd choices..

Do you mind telling me what the rig is for, Gaming, work, video editing, watching movies? ect...

What is your budget for these parts?

The system will be used for gaming,, Crysis 2,,,Carrier Command,,Starcraft 2 etc,,,surfing and watching HD movies.
As for budget was looking at around £450 - £500

This is what id do:

Sorry if i was a bit blunt saying you'd made some weird choices, let me explain.

You picked a locked CPU (non-K) and a Mid/high end overclockng motherboard. You either needed a K series chip (to overclock) or to dail down the motherboard to a non-overclocking one.. (that is what i've gone for)..

You also went for an ivybridge setup rather than a current haswell one, the prices are pretty simillar, no reason not to go haswell. :)

4GB of 1333mhz RAM isn't great..

Hey no problem,,,,,I do see your point. I wont be overclocking the system so I see what you mean about the motherboard. I choose 4gb of ram because on my current system I'm using 32 bit Windows 7 and was going to carry on using that. Can you tell me is there a major difference between 32 and 64 bit systems?,,,I know I'm a pleb !!!!! lol

The mircosoft website say:

The terms 32-bit and 64-bit refer to the way a computer's processor (also called a CPU), handles information. The 64-bit version of Windows handles large amounts of random access memory (RAM) more effectively than a 32-bit system.

That is basically it, so no really..

If you already have 32 bit, may aswell drop to 4GB and carry on using it..

Though if it was an OEM or pre-installed you may have trouble transferring it as the OS is linked to the motherboard..

If you bought it retail you shoudln't have a problem though.

I bought it retail,,,I'm planning to reinstall XP that came with the old pc and use that as a media center in the front room,,,,and install Windows 7 on the new pc,,,have been told I may have to ring Microsoft though.

Na you should be fine..

I managed it without calling.. :)

But i may just of been lucky..

Good plan..

So i'd go with the 4GB of XMS3, I love my XMS3 memory. :)

You may aswell get the 1600mhz though, only 2 queeny pennies more:

It's amazing what you can do if you search a bit for bargains.....

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - OEM £173.99
1 x **B Grade** Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £60.00
1 x Avexir Core Blue Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit (AVD3U16000904G-2CW) - Blue Light £55.99
1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 500w Modular '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020059-UK) £55.99
1 x Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache WD10EZEX - OEM ** Single Platter ** HDD £49.99
1 x **B Grade** BitFenix Shinobi USB3.0 Gaming Windowed Case - Black £39.95
1 x Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure Edition CPU Cooler £29.99
1 x OcUK 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £16.99
Total : £482.89 (includes shipping : FREE).

OEM i5K which you can overclock. Being OEM it has a shorter warranty and no heatsink but we are using the cheaper price to help fund a good one. Mobo is a Z series so can OC the i5K it's B grade though so again shorter warranty and it might need some sata cables etc.

Windowed case is a bargain if you can get it, would show off the blue themed internals nicely. PSU is modular so should help you keep things looking tidy inside and help airflow. The RAM has LEDs but swap it out if you want.

8GB there, you can try the evaluation of windows 8 for free on a 3 month trial rather than use a 32bit OS. This will allow you to use more than 4GB RAM and Windows 8 lifted the max memory restrictions that Win 7 has.

Hope this helps we look forward to seeing what you choose.
