Hi all, I took a step back from PC gaming but I'm missing it quite a lot, so I'm considering getting back into it. I've put together the following build to game at 4K @ 60fps. I'm not an Ultra settings kinda person, and I'm not fussed on RT, so hoping the 9070XT has enough grunt. Any changes on this or am I looking to be along the right lines? I may not buy today but hoping I'm looking OK. Don't really want to go above £2k.

I haven't checked any reviews for the 9070 XT models, but the Gaming OC model is not normally anything special and on the face of it, £700 seems like a high price.

This is an old model (PCI-E 3.0), which isn't necessarily a problem, but the 1TB model here is not great value either.

Just for storage or old games SATA SSDs are fine, but I wouldn't buy one for a new gaming PC, they throttle the speeds 'cos of the limitations of the interface and they don't support DirectStorage. This is also a lot of money for 2TB nowadays and given the performance limitations it shouldn't be so much more expensive.

your spending more on 2 SSd's than it costs to just get a 4tb ssd

Also i had an MSI PSU and the thing never shut up. one you put it under load and the fans start its never turns off until you do a full reboot

Is it actually worth going for the 9800X3D when looking at 4K @ 60Hz gaming? Or am I likely to see very little difference if I dropped to the 9700X?

the X3D would always be better, but by how much is questionable. there is a £220 differance @ 4k i would pick the 9700x and put all cash into the GPU

I was thinking this, but I've just been doing a bit of reading and it seems I'd be better with the X3D for certain sims or games that are still CPU intensive - I know I'll be considering MSFS so it's probably worth stumping up the cash for the X3D now then I've got a solid platform if I decide to upgrade the 9070XT later.

Yeah for certain games they're definitely handy to have and you're not really short changing yourself on the rest of your spec at the moment, so personally I'd invest the money in the X3D.

I tweaked slightly just out of impatience of avoiding pre-orders (and not caring at all about the aesthetics). Am I looking OK here?
