After Fermi disappointing, I've decided to go with a 5850 and OC. The build below comes to £1,600 inc. VAT. If anyone has any recommendations maybe to change or drop something, please let me know. Similarly, if there is something better I could get, let me know also. The budget can go a bit higher if necessary.

Spec looks good, will you be adding a another gpu in the future, as you can drop the PSU to a 600w <.

+1 looks fantastic.
+1 looks like a solid build! Enjoy
Thanks guys.

Yes, I may CrossFire 5850's later in the year depending on ATI's refresh offerings. I'll also keep an eye on what NVIDIA bring to the table, but after the GTX 470/480, I won't be holding my breath.

looks good especally if your going to crossfire just check the cooler think some one said about it in another thread if your going to overclock could be wrong but better to be safe

Get one of them crazy air coolers on here, i read somewhere there better then these weird self-water cooled systems, there exspensive tho.

Oh, I wasn't aware of the H50 struggling. I definitely want to run at 4GHz+ so I think I might change it.

Should I go for the CoolIT Eco instead? Or is there a better air-cooled option for the 930?

Cooling is something I definitely don't want to scrimp on so would be prepared to spend the extra.

You might be better of just asking in the cooling forum.

Something like what cooler for a i7 930 4ghz+ overclock will get you expert answers

bigger screen better gfx hows that ? and what is the most you can strech to btw ?

Thanks to all for your responses.

The problem with the monitor is that I don't really have much room for a screen bigger than say 23" so I'm a bit limited in that regard, I'd almost prefer a 21" or 22" as I'll be sitting quite close to the monitor. I went for the Benq as it's 1080P and it's a LED LCD - which should give a better contrast ratio. Would I be just as impressed with a CCFL LCD? That Samsung monitor you linked looks good Mr. May, I presume you think that's a better choice than the Benq?

Also, the general consensus over in the graphics card section is that it's not worth the extra £100 for the 5870 over the 5850 as you can OC the 5850 to 5870 performance. I know the 5870 can OC too but it's not a performance increase worth it relative to the extra price.

I can stretch to £1,800 if necessary but not really past that.
