Build for my brother he wants to pull the trigger by next week, budget is around £1000 he can go more if necessary to guarantee 60 fps at 1080p for the next few years

He will play destiny 2 and WOW mainly and some upcoming releases, he just wants to play any game at 60 fps on high graphics

Just the tower will be needed and windows is already taken care of

I was thinking a ryzen 5 with a GTX 1060 but I'm not an expert and could use some build advice

Here is something just to give you an idea.

If he prefers Nvidia then a 1070 ti is about the same price.

Obviously case choice is personal so he might want something different/better etc.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,014.48 (includes shipping: £12.60)

I feel like the Vega 64 is overkill for 1080p 60fps. He should probably get the RX 590 on special if there are any left, and an SSD especially when playing Destiny 2.

Read the 1st line of the op's post :) Also my spec has an SSD.

Looks good, I guess as well he can upgrade the monitor to a 144 hertz with that graphics card as well in the future and there shouldnt be any problems

Hi

Is the monitor a standard 60Hz ? Or Freesync/G-Sync etc ?
Yes it's a standard 60 Hz monitor, he is thinking of upgrading that as well but it's not the priority at the moment

Yeah it's a little bit better than the 1060 and it comes with those 3 free games which is a steal

A Vega 56 or 64 will handle 1440p pretty well yeah. The RX 590 is a valid suggestion for 1080p but I guess it depends on what sort of time frame he wants before upgrading again etc. If he is considering 1440p/144Hz then one of the Vega cards makes more sense.

this is my system playing it for comparison, mine doesnt sit a 60fps, but is smooth, so i would say if you go for a ryzen 5 either make sure it is a 1400 or go straight for the 6 cores which would be better anyways and get a 1060 at least and the 6gb version, i dont know if i can better my system as stock, but you will want something much higher performing to get your goal

Destiny 2

WoW

i feel showing these is a good comparison of what not to get if you can afford better ha ha

Thanks everyone for the help, I passed this along to him and he decided to just go with an RX 590 and save some money for future upgrades

Once he can get 60 fps 1080p for the foreseeable future he is satisfied

I think he will upgrade to a 144hz screen later on but for now was happy with 60 fps

card will handle over 60hz in most games i think . he'll have to try 120hz+ monitor to see different . £260 and 2 free games aint to bad mind!

though personally would have paid extra £60 and get the vega and screen, 3 free games could have been sold to make the £60 back haha
