Build for a photographer

Hey, im back to request some help with choosing a PC for photography only. Im contemplating buying a PC or a Mac, however it looks like its cheaper to get a PC with better specs rather than a mac.

I found a mac with 24inch Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz/4GB/640GB/GeForce 9400M specs for 1100, could anyone beat that but with a PC build. Preferably much less than 1100

No need for OS, good gfx cards,mouse,keyboard.

I'm no spec-expert, but you may want to post a brief list of some of the photographic software you use? Depending on how multi-threaded it is might help guide the specification....

Photoshop is the main one, so im guessing a quad core or better would be very useful

Something like this maybe, a 4830 will be ample for any photo editing in the near future.

The SSD is only an option, but will reduce booting and loading times.

Will eat any Photoshop work for breakfast.

2x1tb Samsung Spinpoint F3 (depending on how much you shoot, and if in RAW or not)
Corsair TX750 (I would recommend the 650, but it's out of stock)

5770(I know you said no fancy video cards, but it'll help when working with super hi-res images)
Antec 300

Might be worth getting an SSD as a boot drive as well, but I don't know a great deal about them

Thanks a lot for the suggestions, trying atm to get a similar system as the first one offered plus a decent monitor for photography
