I have a friend who is looking for a build for sim racing. Iracing, Le Mans Ultimate etc. probably single screen to start with - let’s say 2k resolution, with potential to move to triple monitors in the future.

He’s come to me with this pre built spec, to my untrained eye it looks like there is good scope to upgrade cpu/ram in the future if more performance was needed, but could it be beat for about £1k?

Thanks Tetras, I did mean with a diy build yes, I’m happy putting a build together to help him out.

I believe he could probably ditch the licence key from his build costs if it meant much to the spec. Thanks very much for such a quick reply.

Yeah, it would help, since you could fit AM5 instead (better future CPU upgradability).

There's also potential for a 7800 XT, or maybe even a 9070 (launches in a few days), though that would mean compromises on the rest of the build that might only make sense for higher resolutions and from what I'm aware, those kind of racing games can be demanding on the CPU?

You’re correct, they do tend to ask a lot more of the cpu. My build (in sig, which I believe you helped spec too) has performed really well with AM5, sim racing titles do seem to perform well with AMD chips.

I agree, saving £108 isn't to be sniffed at to simply use a trial, unactivated unpersonalisationalwindows instead
given the option, I would never pay to activate windows because I don't need to, unlocking personalisation means nothing to me, I'd simply rather not pay £100+ to do i,so I don't.
It is a tribky one, one has to wonder how micro$oft do out of having free versions of window being able to use, but I guess that that is a great platform to sell an OS from
