Hey all
My computer died last week (9 year old PC could run pretty much just Fallout NV and no higher)...so time for an update

I am training as an illustrator and use a lot of editing programs (photoshop, few 3d modelling programs etc) but nothing video based, and want a good PC that will no lag, as well as...getting back to Gaming of course! I've got a copy of fallout 4 that has been teasing me for a year, so now of course I want a build that will last, not run fallout 4 and newer games at minimum only, and hopefully last me a while.

My partner and I have been building around the Skylake/Kabylake Midi Tower Gaming PC Configurator and at the moment this is where we are. Basically I want to know if it a sensible build, or if there are bits that can be wound down with other bits winding up. I realise from a fe sources that the graphics card will run it mid range rather than full blown settings, so could we/should we for instance change the processor down to a i5 rather than the i7? Friend says "for my money I'd be saving the 131 to drop to an i5-7600 (not the K unless you're going to overclock?) and put it towards a better graphics card".

Thanks for any advice!

You could get the Ryzen 1600x and put the rest of the money towards a GTX 1060 6Gb.

That would be better than current CPU and GPU choice.

You could save more money by going for B350 AM4 motherboard.

CPU

Mobo or Mobo

GPU or anything similar.

Thanks Capodecina!
This build doesnt offer the Ryzen so might have to check the other builds. It's only offering the intels.
Are you talking about the gtx 1060 6144mb? or the 3072mb? Assuming the 6144!

Oh.... I see you want to buy the PC already assembled? Would be better to buy the components separately and assemble your self.

Could you not ask some one to help you assemble it if you don't know how?

What I've specced you above is a much better choice than what you are currently looking at.

Yes, 6Gb 1060.

There are some nice 1060's under £300... such as this one.

My partner built my last PC 9 years ago but he works a lot now and I cant put it together myself. I'm just not up to it/knowledgeable enough if I am totally honest!
I need my computer for my business, and not having one at the moment (other than a poor laptop) is crippling.
Not sure how much I would save buying the components and waiting til he can put it together. Also, I would need to do lots of research to make sure these things are compatible/will fit in the case...at least with the assembled options they are all on there because they will be compatible and will fit (as long as I dont do anything stupid like order a case without a disk drive cut out...)

Well... as long as your case is mid sized the parts will fit. You can also choose what yuo want and send a webnote to OcUK asking them do they think the parts you've bought will fit in the case you want.
