Ello, I'm planning on building a PC for modeling/motion graphics and a bit of print work, but it's been a few years since I built my current PC so I'm a bit out of touch. I have kind of got to a starting point/possible list as below:
Intel Core i7-3820 3.60GHz (Sandybridge-E) Socket LGA2011 Processor - Retail
Asus P9X79 PRO Intel X79 (Socket 2011) DDR3 Motherboard
G.Skill RipJawsZ 32GB (8x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Quad Channel Kit
Phanteks PH-TC14PE CPU Cooler - Silver
EVGA GeForce GTX 570 Classified 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Intel 520 Series 120GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive - Retail
Intel 520 Series 60GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive - Retail (for scratch disk/AE persistant cache etc)
Seagate Barracuda Green 2TB SATA 6Gb/s Hard Drive
Corsair Carbide 500R Midi Tower Case - Black
Antec High Current Pro 850W Modular '80 Plus Gold' Power Supply
Samsung SH-S222BB/RSMS 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black)
(Already have OS, monitors, keyboard/mouse, tablet.)
It will spend it's life running Maya, Zbrush, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and InDesign, no gaming as such. I have a few 'um's' about my list so far so if anyone could have a look and offer any opinions I'd be grateful.
Is the PSU overkill
Will the Phanteks cooler fit ok even with all 8 memory slots filled with the G.Skill RAM
will the Phanteks cooler fit ok in the Corsair Carbide 500R
Is the onboard sound any good or should I add a soundcard/if so whats a good bet nowadays
Whats the overclocking potential if any, thinking about squeezing just a little more out, nothing too heavy. (never oc'd anything before)
