Build for Music

Hey guys, i have a friend that is wanting a build for just music production, plus he is a student so the budget is slimmer than a £5 note.

Got the build pretty much complete with a ryzen 3, just stuck on the gfx card.. I really dunno how much gpu performance music production programms need... any ideas on the cheapest possible gfx card that can run from a ryzen 3 with 8gig of ram?

Get the cheapest possible gpu. Music production doesnt need any gpu grunt. I take it he has something other than the built in soundcard?

Yeh he has acquired a sound card from uni so thats all good.. all thats needed is a seriously cheap, if not free gfx card as i have maybe £80 left in the buget

What is the budget? £500 or lower for the tower/pc?

I'd spend more on the cpu than anything else in the pc build.

it was 500 i got him to 600 but thats the whole lot, lock stock the lot, no more.. this is coming outa a student loan
I might even have to stretch him for another 40 for a tower cooler if its all cpu demanding

Honestly anything will do. I have been producing music on pc since 2004. the gpu is not being taxed. Good soundcard(obviously but some people dont realise!) ram and cpu are the ones to get.

yep, just need a gpu that will run the thing and will run off a fairly new monitor or even his tv thats it

The processor should have enough grunt to plow through music production as well as a 3tb hdd to store his audio files.

Under 600 for the tower only, he will thank you for the ryzen 1600 processor.

i would never have gone for a gtx1030, am a gamer so i always go big or go home lol

Well as long as you get him a cheaper graphics card as that is the cheapest i can find new and from nvidia.

Make sure he gets a beefy processor like the ryzen 1600.

Ah right well he doesn't need a gamer gpu..i didn't understand your comment sorry.

i ment that because i am a gamer i would never have considered a gtx 1030 as for me personally it would never be in my basket

If your into music production it has to be the processor, get him the beefy ryzen 1600 or intel equivalent.

If he plays pc games well the gt 1030 would struggle.
