Build for Witcher 3 and beyond

Hi there, want to build a whole new PC for Witcher 3 to be at full settings and to last me for a good few years, the one I have now is just not gonna cut it. Budget is around £1000 but I don't mind spending a little bit extra.

So far I've come up with

Intel Core i7-4790K 4.00GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150 Processor
MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition Intel Z97 (although probably don't want to use SLI)
Corsair Vengeance Pro Blue 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9
Asus GeForce GTX 980 DirectCU II OC Strix 4096MB
Samsung 250GB 850 EVO SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps
WD Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache (Don't need more than this)

Haven't decided on the Case or the CPU cooler but I used Coolermaster and a Corsair Water Cooler and they were good for me so would prob like to use them again. Just need a cheap DVD player to run discs since I rarely ever use them. Not sure at all about PSU's but I used an Antec before and seemed solid but not sure about what Wattage to use.

Don't need to buy an peripherals

Its totalled £1200 already without the items I've listed

Hi there, I have Windows 7 on my current system so can't I just transfer it onto my new one albeit I don;t know where the disc is...its been 4 years since I bought this system

You would want to do a complete fresh install. If you havent got the product key then there is a program that will show you what it is, then get hold of another ISO of win7, install and use your product key.

Or you can download a technical preview of Win10 from Microsoft and that lasts a few months.

What is you current setup?

i5 2500k
Antec psu 700 i think

Hold on.

Overclock that 2500K (add a big heatsink if you dont have one).

Spend money on a GTX980 or some other fat GFX card.

Add a SSD.

Thanks for your help, I've decided not to get a new case, psu, dvd and ram since I don't know how to overclock I shall get the mobo/cpu bundle and the GFX card.

Do the GFX card and SSD first.

And a fresh install of windows with the latest drivers from Nvidia and your motherboard manufacture.

Then if you are still not happy you can take these parts over to a new CPU/Board etc.

The i5 2500K is still a great cpu. A new gpu and SSD will breathe new life into your system.

Agreed, then use the money for a nice monitor/keyboard/mouse

Not sure dropping a grand on a new build is worth it when the cpu you have is still decent and skylake is not that far away. Better getting a new graphics card and ssd as suggested above.
