Hi Guys,

You might remember i asked a while ago about a PC. After that i got given a cheap gaming one and have been using that...

Looking now for a spec i would like, basically i play ArmA 3, Battlefield + Racing sims.

Whats there for best bang for buck? I could use the case i have and already got mouse keyboard moniter ect... not sure what i could use internaly off of this one,

cheers

Yo :)

What are the specs of the current PC?
Do you require an OS?
What's your budget?
Any other uses apart from gaming?

Hey,

Processor: AMD A8-6600K APU with Radeon HD Graphics 3.90Ghz But 4.2 turbo model?
Graphics Card:AMD Radeon HD8570D
8GB DDR3 1600Mhz RAM
1TB SEAGATE Barracuda 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive With 64MB Cache
MSI FM2-A55M-E33 uATX Motherboard
Power supply 500w

Not too worried on OS as i could get that rather cheap!

Budget is as cheap as can be due to baby on the way, but being capable of doing what i need as i am swapping this for my hobby of Rallying.

Also would be used for browsing ect, all general pc stuff.

Excellent
Do you know what 500W PSU that is? Make/model?

Also, it looks like you will be able to use the 1TB HDD and 8GB DDR3 again which is great as you don't have to pay for it again

Something like this I think would be good

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte Z97X-SLI - Devils Canyon Core i5 4690K Bundle **£14 Saving** £248.58
1 x Powercolor Radeon R9 280 TurboDUO 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £155.99
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £53.99
1 x Raijintek Agos Midi Tower - Black £39.95
1 x Raijintek Themis Direct Contact CPU Cooler £19.99
Total : £528.10 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Assuming the PSU isn't up to scratch

This will have really excellent performance and re-using your HDD and RAM, you could get an SSD (256GB) in for about £540
Would be very snappy etc

Is this too much money? Can be reduced if needs be, perhaps swap to an AMD 8320 setup or so

Unfortunately i don't have a clue what make/model it is... so i would probably buy another to be on the safe side!

Would i be able to use the case i already have? its not the best looking but if it saves a few pennies?

I don't know much about PC's so please excuse this question if its a little dumb.. Would i be better off going for a slightly more expensive i7 for higher Ghz? Would ideally like to run everything on high at least.

SSD Would be out of the question for now, but at a later date might be an option!

Except for that question, That seems spot on!

For bang for the buck, the AMD "epic bundle" (cpu; mobo; memory; psu... and freebies) has to be up there (currently ~£347)...

For gpu, an AMD R9 270 for ~£115 might be ok (my R7 265 bought for a stonking £90 does pretty well in my aging pc), but right now I'd be tempted to look at the new R9 285 for ~£170...

I recently bought my first SSD (512GB crucial mx100) and even on my old system limited to SATA 2 speeds, it has been a revelation! Just beware that lower storage capacity models that will cost less, can have lower rated speeds (eg. the mx100 128GB quoted at 550/150, 256GB at 550/330, 512GB at 550/500 MB/sec).

Crucial MX100 have very good bang for buck, as well as the Samsung 840 Evo SSDs which are extremely good also
