Build Help - CPU Cooler Placement

Hi all,

First time building a new PC today. I’m wondering if I can get some help, please?

It looks as if the cooler I have is too big for my case. Well, it fits in the case, but I don’t know whether it’s optimal. Currently, if I mount it (where I see most people mount it), it sits directly over the RAM slots. I imagine that’s not ideal. It doesn’t touch the RAM however.

Is that fine? I imagine it’ll be a pain if I ever want to upgrade RAM, however.

Is there anywhere else in the case it could go? Maybe if I remove the stock fans, but don’t even know whether that’s a possibility at this point. Any help would be appreciated. Even if the help is, “you need a bigger case”.

Examples below:

Build below:

Focus 2 Fractal case
Liquid Freezer 3 Pro 360
AMD Ryzen 9950x3d
Gigabyte B850 ATX WiFi6E
AMD Radeon rx 9070xt

Yeah, overhanging the ram wont cause any issue, though you are correct that it can be a pain when it comes to changing the ram.

If you're desperate to not do that, you can mount the fans to the other side of some tower coolers. Just need to make sure the airflow is still pointed in the direction you want.

ahhh this is a liquid cooled build i had a vision of someone trying to attach an aircooler somewhere else in the case and was trying to figure out how they were going to get the heat from the cpu to the cooler then i realised not everyone has massive lumps of aluminium stacked onto their motherboards lol
just because thats usualy what covers the ram and everything else and you end up like me having to take the entire machine apart ever time you want to swap a fan to another header [exhagerated but you get what i mean]
liquid is a different matter lol and i need to wake up
