Hello
My brother has asked me to upgrade his computer
He currently has a
i5 2500K
CM Sedion 120v AIO
8GB (2* 4gb) Corsair Vengence 1600mhz
SanDisk Ultra plus 120GB SSD (OS)
500 GB HDD (SataIII)
XFX DD 7970 OC
500W PSU

He wants an i7 4790k, double his ram (so another 8GB of the corsair vengence), a new graphics card (something like gtx 970 or a r9 390) and a motherboard

What board MATX z97 board should I get he might want to double up on GPU's later.
Also are there any good low cost cases that you would recommend.

Budget -£600 - £700

Any reason He wants an i7 ? If He is just gaming then the i5 2500K is still a very good cpu. For things like rendering/streaming etc then an i7 makes more sense.


You will need a bigger psu if you want to run 970 sli or 390 crossfire.

The Corsair 350D, Fractal Design Arc Mini R2 and Phanteks Evolv are all good cases.

Sorry to be a pain, but does his motherboard support the I5 4590k? with the 1150 socket when the current chip 2500k is a 1155 socket?
