hello, bulding a computer for my friend but i'm stumped, put everything together but we have no display:

spec:
intel dual core 1.8ghz
azrock mobo
Nvidia 9700 PCI-E graphics (DVI connector)
1GB DDR RAM
IDE HDD 80GB
450W PSU

We've got power to the board (cpu fan spinning + fan on graphics card spinning) - intrestingly the fan on the graphics card spins if its attached to the PSU or not (must be getting some power from the board)

We've got no display thou, tested in both DVI connectors > still nothing

no post beep (cant see a system speaker on board though)

unplugged IDE connectors to save power > still no display.

CPU mounted correctly, RAM inserted correctly also...

reseated all *** parts > still no picture.

We're using a VGA monitor so have to use a DVI adaptor in the back of the graphics card > swap tested two of these and still no picture!

built pcs before but only with AMD and never used PCI-E before - is there anything that you think we may have missed out?

any help would be greatly appreicated

Okay, can you try swapping the memory with another module?

Disconnect the HD while you investigate.

Are you certain you have all the power connectors attached to the M/B?

Can you try another monitor?

no other memory to test either > but it looks ok (all new parts as well)

as for the power connectors, (its a mico-atx board) > got the big atx connecttor from PSU attached to the mobo and then one pwr connector going into the PCI-E graphics card...

theres one other power adaptor on the mobo but think thats just for using x-fire....

monitor has been tested and is working on other machines....

The power connectors may be the problem, I think there should be the long 20/24 way connector AND a 4 way connector (close to CPU) to the board. This connector powers the CPU. Check the connections in the M/B manual.

Can anyone confirm?

checked all the relevent connectors > can't find a PSU connector for the CPU. never heard of em before, but dont know much about intel boards.

i think its got to the point were there has to be a fault somewhere... :(
