Hi Guys,

Looking at building my first PC. I know some stuff about PC's but not a lot and have been trying to read up on new technologies etc etc. First of all I want the PC for gaming and am doing this due to my current PC now struggling.

I want to be able to run new games comfortably and not have to look at upgrading in the next couple of years (Looking to get the new battlefield).

Below are some components I have selected. I originally had a budget of £1200 so I think I may have picked slightly too high end components below for my budget. Also would like some help with stuff I haven't selected. I picked the Z270 only because it is the latest so I thought why not? I already own a lian li midi case.

MSI Z270 Gaming M5 Intel Z270
Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz (Kaby Lake)
MSI GeForce GTX 1070 AERO 8G OC

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi stulid,

Thanks for the reply, I do not know the model it was from a friend a good 3 to 4 years ago. Sorry for the lack of information.

I may even look into purchasing a new case as it is scuffed up.
I will need a copy of windows but didn't really include that in my budget. I have corsair keyboard, and gigabyte mouse I am happy with. I have a monitor but will look to go bigger after the build so does not need to be included in the budget.

Okay Ryzen sounds good for that, how is it on price? I only really went for intel as it is what I have currently and haven't had any issues.

Okay that's great. Could you suggest some components? I mean could I run games like battlefield 1 comfortable on a £1200 budget, is it plenty or too little?

Sorry for the lack of knowledge.

All looks very nice, all pretty solid reviews across the web, and falls into the budget minus the case. (I would probably change the case I am not a fan of that look, I prefer the aluminium type)

Would there be a large difference between what you have chosen and a Ryzen 5 6core 3.6GHz?

Would this last for a good few years to come do you think before upgrades are required?

Sorry for all of the questions its a bit daunting.

So for the money your getting more going with AMD.

Would spending a little more on the motherboard and cpu show much difference? The motherboard seems a little basic?

Yes I did see no SLI option which doesn't really concern me as I currently only have one card anyway and will probably stay that way.

I wont be overclocking due to my lack of knowledge unfortunately.

Thanks for the help I really appreciate it, I think I just need to keep reading up more on these things to get a better understanding. But I suppose the best way of learning is to get stuck in and have a go.

I have come up with the below, please let me know what you think?

AMD Ryzen 7 Eight Core 1700 3.70GHz (Socket AM4) Processor
MSI GeForce GTX 1070 QUICK SILVER OC RGB 8192MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
MSI X370 Gaming Pro Carbon AMD X370 (Socket AM4) DDR4 ATX Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C15 3000MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2B30
Samsung 960 EVO Polaris 250GB M.2 2280 PCI-e 3.0 x4 NVMe Solid State Drive
Super Flower Leadex Platinum 650W Fully Modular "80 Plus Platinum" Power Supply - Black
Toshiba P300 1TB 7200RPM 64MB Cache High Performance Hard Drive (HDWD110UZSVA)
Corsair Crystal 460X RGB Midi Tower Tempered Glass Case - Black (CC-9011101-WW)

Planning for one card, so you think 550w would be enough? I only put the 650w in as was only another £15 or so.

I think what I have selected is all compatible.
Went with the quick silver card as it was reduced to the same price as the other 1070 cards.
