Hiya Guys n girls...

Started the PC build today, got an Antec 1200 case, and into that goes......

Asus P5Q Pro Intel P45 PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775)

Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x2GB) Supplied with Airflow Fan

Now the problem.....

I phone OcUK before I ordered all the bits I have online, as I wanted to make sure it was all compatible, and would all fit!

There were issues with certain ram for the MoBo so I ordered the corsair as it was a decent make, and I wanted to get the build right

I have uploaded some pics to Photobucket, here are the photos, or links, whatever works :)

(IS THE RAM IN THE RIGHT SLOTS ON THIS MOBO?? Its in the two YELLOW Ones)

As you can see, the ram is quite tall, it already obscures the Cooling Fan intake for the CPU, but if I were to mount the supplied Ram cooler, its nearly up to half way on the cooling fan for the CPU!

Unless im doing summit wrong???:eek: :o:o:o

Any advice guys???

I'll leave the ram cooler off if needs be, its a shame but hey ho, just thought I would get some advice from people in here first :)

Chris

It will probably be fine but you will need to test cpu temps with it both installed and uninstalled to be sure.

You have the ram in the proper slots for dual channel, regarding the ram cooling fan, if your not sticking severe voltage through the ram to overclock (more volts=more heat) id just leave it off.

Ive got same case, the RAM should be fine in the slots, shouldnt matter if theyre in yellow or black, as long as theyre both in same colour. Do you need a RAM cooler firstly? Are you planning on OC'ing your RAM quite seriously? The 1200 has great airflow and I dont find any need for a specific RAM cooler myself. If you reckon you do then how about re-orienting your CPU fan? Ive got mine set up as you do now (different fan but same principle - blowing towards back) but I think it's work just as well pointing up so the air is vented straight into the bigboy 200mm fan. Just a couple of thoughts for you

Well I will OC it at some point mebbe, but not just yet

I have a Sapphire 4870 x2 GFX card, so It SHOULD I hope as standard run the newer games OK without overclocking it?

Re-Orientating the fan I hadnt considered, ar the mounting points for the fan assembly the same dimensions if I were to turn the whole Artic Freezer7 unit 90 deg clockwise with the holes line up?

Im building it at work in my lunch hours or I'd never have the time lol so im home for now, I'll look back on this thread later on to see what you lot think :)

RIFLES: how many drives you have in your Antec 1200 mate? and where did you mount them outta interest?

Nice :)

One question... If I re-orientate the Artic Cooler, it means removing it from the MoBo.......... so....... what about the goo on the heatsink and CPU?

Is it going to be ok, or is it remove and renew.... and if the latter.... how much and how lol ;)

ok done and dusted, fan removed and changed, goop re-applied, and heatsink/fan now pointing upwards towards that huge mother in the top :)

Now, about your case fans lol

U have what I have, how have you connected yours up to the PSU?
