Over the past two weeks I've been sorting out my build, looking at reviews, getting Spec Checks etc. Thanks to a number of members here, I now have all my components (SSD and RAM on way)..

:)

To be honest I have little idea what I'm doing, as I haven't found many Lian Li X500 builds... I have been checking out some guides though..
I think I almost know what I'm doing with everything bar the fans.. The case has a controller, and I don't know which fans should be plugged into the motherboard or PSU..
Here are some pictures to show what I mean....

p1070107.jpg

(above) These come from the fan controller

p1070108.jpg

(above) There are four fans, I take it they go straight into the power? Fan controller somehow changes their speed although they don't have a direct connection?

(above) Fan on heatsink. Firsty, how do I know if the fans facing the right direction?! (till I switch it on - there aren't arrows on it like I've seen on others). Secondly - Where does the connector plug in... It fits in system fan but not cpu fan...

Thanks for any help!
Edit: Sorry for huge image! Changed..

No, he just needs to swap the Noctua fan the other way round.

Although not always the case, most of the time the sticker on the fan indicates the direction of airflow. So in your case it looks like the fan is blowing AWAY from the heatsink, whereas you want it to push air into your cooler.

So the heat sink is correct? As it looks exactly the same both ways... Checked a few times...
Looking at the curves of the blades it does look like I have it the wrong way.. Will change it now.. Thanks!
My 3G just sold for 350 on eBay :) Already paying off the price of this machine... :)

Is there any chance this is right? I have the 4 case fans plugged into each other onto the two ends of the fan controller. Lastly a Molex connection from the PSU... Seems like it could be right?

Thanks for coming by man, My only issues is the fan, and then I'm good to go, I think.. Just gonna put in the graphics card now and hopefully someone can assist me with the fans.. I'll post some pics when I've got the GPU and HDD's in...

Connector from the Noctua.... It came with an adapter to go into a molex, shall I just daisy chain it or should it go somewhere on the motherboard? So far I'm not filling a single fan slot on the motherboard..

These are all the cables that are not allocated yet! All fan cables...

This comes from the fan controller, It confuses me as it is part extended.. Can I daisy chain on both sides like in the next photo?
p1070115.jpg

Daisy chaining on both sides with the PSU on the "more complete side"

These two also come from the fan controller.. I guess they go somewhere on the motherboard, but no idea where!

One more thing, whats the difference between hd audio and ac'97?

Rick the beast went in perfectly, she's a good fit having side connectors :)

My issues is this: I have no idea where to plug them in.. can't see anywhere.... bain...

Heh thanks for your input guys...
I did as said and took two fans and connected them to the fan controller fired her up and yes she can change fan speed :) so thankyou. But as you might expect.. I now have 2 of five fans variating, and the other three constant (not sure about the noctua inside)

Two plugged into fan controller: 1 plugged into molex adaptor and daisy chained:

One plugged into fan controller and one not plugged into anything, and wont fit into any fan sockets on the motherboard (trust me iv checked about 15 times)

I'm a little bit stupid... Okay all 5 fans are on... only 2 variate as only 2 are plugged into the fan controller. How can I plug more in... The fan controller is a part of the case, as are the fans.. surely they must allow all 5 to variate?

I guess more importantly is outputting video, as she turns on, she lights up, but nothing comes out of the hdmi channel on the projector (using a DVI to HDMI cable)

I get no source found. And yes she's very much plugged in.. two green lights, fan going.. Should be working? Will get my monitor to test, might just be the projector having issues..
I think its annoying I have to buy a splitter :p they should supply me one with the case... Silly..
She's loud and I can't turn the fans down :p

sooooo, not good.... no picture... what can be causing it?
I have the two power cables plugged into the GPU, is there one I'm missing? I see another adaptor but it came with no cable.... arghhhh this is annoying...

Strange... she works... just not on projectors HDMI and not on HDMI 1 on my tv, and not at all on my sisters apple DVI screen (though didnt expect it to)...
Shall go away and install and be back tomorrow to overclock her.
Thanks Rick and Thom :) First pc built :)

woohooo well done see not to bad is it,when the next upgrade dude

Ha tomorrow, if I'm anything like you :p and no, isn't too bad... fans had me for a while! but everything else was a breeze... Apart from this rant:

My machine is being annoying... So she worked for a moment... But then I decided to put in mouse and keyboard, it wasn't working so I thought okay I'll reboot with them plugged in... Only this time.. no output again... Last time it took about half an hour to show up on a random hdmi channel...
Not sure if this is explainable... Hopefully will be able to install the OS next time she decides to show herself....

Don't you mean thursday?
I just became a "gangster" with my post on your thread!
Anyway, you have all of tomorrow to decide for friday's delivery...
