Afternoon all,

I'm newish to these boards and you're all a lovely bunch of people. From research i have the following build to do in March....
(Usage is Games (For the first time in my life not at low graphic settings), photo editing and Photo manipulation)

Proc: SandyBridge 3.4Ghz, 2600K 1155 Socket
Cooling: Corsair H70 Hydro
PSU: Corsair AX 850 (Should last a while)
Case: Corsair 600T (Or the spec Ed version if OCuk have it then)
SSD: OCZ Vertex 2 120 GB (Although just read a review that these aren't 120 Gb anymore due to new 24nM size, any comments?)

HD: Samsung 1Tb Spinpoint (or other standard 1Tb HD)
OS: Windows 7 Pro. (64 bit)

GPU: Nvidea 580 GTX of some sort....(plan to SLi in future)

That's what's been decided. the RAM and Mobo are confusing me on what I should be looking for, and might change between now and mid-March but any advice on either? Costs are running at £100 ish for Ram, £150 for Mobo.(+/- £30 for each)

RAM: 2x 4Gb of ??? (Running Photoshop)
Mobo: ???

Only final note is to replace H70 Rad stock fans with Apache Viper silentx2 plus the
Akasa AK-CB002 PWM Fan Splitter Cable [AK-CB002]

Comments, ideas, suggestions...

Looks like a decent spec so far, motherboard wise I'd wait and see what's available in March as the new revision boards are coming soon with a few new models on the horizon too.

Something like this would be fine RAM wise:

In terms of cooling the H70 is a bit expensive considering the performance, however if you really want a watercooling unit then it's a decent choice.

If you're going for H70, then get the RAM suggested by Redmint. (I'd consider changing the CPU cooler though, can get air coolers with better performance for a cheaper price) If you get a good air cooler though, then get the Geil 8gb 2x4gb as it's slightly lower profile heat sink....

Mobo, if you want to crossfire you're looking at something like the ASUS p67 PRO. But again wait to see what pops up in March :)

SSD: Again wait and see! Literally should be new ones out in the next few weeks that are rumored to be cheaper and faster...

I've just got the H70 myself and the main reasons were:

1) That I wouldn't have 1kg of metal hanging off of my motherboard, I had this on my last build and I swear it was this that killed my mobo (never killed a mobo in my life before and I hadn't had it that long either, compared to my others)

2) From some online reviews it came out above some of the top air coolers, yes its more money, but for me it was the solution I was looking for (didn't want a full water setup).

Just trying to add a little balance to the discussion :D

The fixed Sandy Bridge chipsets will begin to be shipped in March apparently, so it will be a good time to buy :)

I've always been told the H70 cooler isn't all that great and is pretty noisy with the standard fans.

Thanks all.

H70 - Going for components that last a while and plan to do "some" overclocking. up to 4Ghz at least for 24/7 running. Also hate to see large lumps of metal hanging off of the mobo. Noise - hence the 2x vipers, should smooth it out a bit.

Ram - Redmint - Thank you, just read a very good review of this lot as well, so tick box and done!
