Best computer you can for battlefield 3. Its not for me but a friend. This is what I've come up with so far.

He's not too worried about the look of the computer, just wants the best parts he can get.

He has a budget of £400, so its gonna be tight. Im sure you guys can come up with a better build than me. As you can see im slightly over budget atm but figure there is probably a cheaper motherboard to bring the price down a tad. If needs be £430 is the maximum it could go over.

Heres what i have so far.

EDIT, not sure if the psu is strong enough will need to double check that.

• The H67 board has SATA3.0 + USB3.0 (SATA3.0 could be useful if a SSD is added later)
• Better PSU
• Faster card
• Faster HDD

You cant overclock a non"K" CPU so thats why a H61/H67 board is a cheaper option.

Makes sense. That looks good.

Couple of questions thoughi thought the psu for a 6850 was 500 minimum, at least according to amd's site will that 450W psu be ok for a 6870?

I wouldn't trust that PSU, will he need an OS? That'll be the budget breaker.

I can provide him with an OS so that doesnt need to be part of the budget.

They say that to account for the cheaper PSU's that cant deliver the wattage their label says they can.

A power hugry socket 1366 system with a 6870 uses - http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/290 - 277W while playing Crysis and 306w using a full CPU+GPU stress test program like Furmark.

The above values are for the complete system.

A Sandybridge i3 2100 uses a fraction of the power the test system CPU (i7 920) does, its much more energy efficient.
