Hi, my parents ancient old Acer PC is on its last legs and they want me to sort out a replacement for them.
They only need a very basic machine for web browsing, light office type work and my dads family tree stuff but I'd like to get something that will last them a good few years again.
Normally I'd just build it but for something so basic I'm wondering if it worth the effort as opposed to buying something pre-built?
Spec-wise I'm thinking an i3, 8GB RAM, a 1TB SSHD, no discrete gpu, dvd drive, all in a fairly compact, discrete and quiet case along with a 24" 1080p monitor. Budget is upto £500 but obviously the cheaper the better and they'll also need a copy of Win 10 in that price.
What are peoples thoughts, worth buying all the bits and self building or just get a pre-built office pc?
Thanks,
Ross
