Hi all following on from this thread : http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18531485

Ive now got a modified new build which is as follows :

Motherboard Asus F2A55-M LE AMD A55 Chipset (Socket FM2) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard

CPU : AMD A8-5600K Black Edition 3.60GHz (Socket FM2) APU Trinity Quad Core Processor

RAM : TeamGroup Elite 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TED34096M1600HC11DC)

CASE : Cooler Master Elite 344 Micro ATX Case

HARD DRIVE : Toshiba (7K1000.D) 500GB SATA 6GB/s 32MB Cache - OEM (DT01ACA050) HDD

Optical drive : OcUK 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM

PSU : Corsair Builder Series CX 430W V2 '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020046-UK)

Are my components compatiable ?

Do you think the PSU is OK for what it needs to run ?

Thanks.

Those parts won't draw much from the wall, so 430w is perfectly fine.

Why a Trinity CPU rather than Richland?

Richlands dont have onboard graphics ( do they ? )and I am at the top end of what he wants to spend. Main use will be for Skype and watching films.

Sorry they do - just checked., but he could only go dual core with his budget.

Richland does have a built in IGP, but for what you say it will be used for the Trinity 5600K is the better option.

Also if you want something that is fast get him an SSD.

if it's not for games, I'd much rather have Haswell G3220, B85 board and as mentioned, SSD.

I doubt they would overclock that APU too. so the more powerful iGPU and unlocked multiplier is a complete waste.

also 1TB HDDs are much better value than 500GB. you can double the storage for less than £10 extra.
