Hi !

Im looking to builds my own NAS and HTPC/Gaming System and need a bit of help maybe...

This is what I've got so far and I am wanting to keep it under £400. Mainly for Storage and XBMC playback of HD films and *maybe* some light gaming but would be on old games.

I already have a selection of HDDs I can use 4 x 1TB & 1 x 2TB so these will be re used.

Anything I've missed or alternatives to what I have picked?

Thanks in advance

If you can stretch at all I think the below spec would give the most performance for your change.

YOUR BASKET
1 x AMD A10-6800K Black Edition 4.10GHz (Socket FM2) APU Richland Quad Core Processor (AD680KWOHLBOX) £103.99
1 x Gigabyte F2A88XN-WIFI AMD A88X (Socket FM2+) DDR3 Mini ITX Motherboard £79.99
1 x BitFenix Phenom Mini-ITX Cube Case - Midnight Black £69.95
1 x Toshiba SSD HDTS212EZSTA 9.5mm 128GB Solid State Hard Drive - Retail £61.99
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan GOLD 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-17100C11 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLYD38G2133HC11ADC01) £53.99
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 450W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £43.99
Total : £428.00 (includes shipping : £11.75).

The AMD has a better iGPU so will give better performance in light gaming, the RAM is faster which will help that as well. Squeezes a 128gb SSD in and a Gold PSU as well.

Admittedly though I do not know how well the Phenom cases are to cable but if it is similar to the Prodigy my NAS sits in then it shouldn't be too bad.

My issue is I need to have the 5+ SATA ports ideally.

The other parts look good though!

Ah sorry there is me wading in without reading the whole post.

Then your original might be the closest to right, although you haven't listed a PSU in the original post and I would recommend the H87-i rather than the z87-i as you won't need the overclocking features and would still get the 6 sata ports needed. You could then use the money to increase the SSD size.

Yeah I forgot about a PSU :(

Ok this is how it looks at the moment! I'm assuming everything will fit :)

Any objections?
