Build Skeleton Decided - Need Muscle ?

Hi,

After reading various topics on the forum I have arrived at some options for the skeleton part of a proposed build. I would be grateful if anyone would be able to assist in putting the muscle on the bones to complete the build.

So far, I have opted for:

CPU: Intel i5 750 (£140)
SSD: Crucial M225 or Intel X-25M (£170 / £193)
GPU: Radeon 5850 (£230 or aftermarket such as ASUS, Gigabyte, HIS, MSI ?)
RAM: 4mb DDR3 (£82)

The components I need to complement the above are:

Motherboard: Including audio, and able to take i7 CPU if I wish to change CPU
HDD: approx 500gb/750gb with fast I/O and large cache ?
Case: Air cooled but not garish humungus style
Fans
Card Reader
Blue-Ray Player / DVD Writer
PSU

Please add anything I have missed. My budget is £1000 including VAT.

that will cover the memory
concerning the 5850 just get whatever is in stock as stock levels are only just picking up for the 5 series cards check out the sapphires the are the cheapest right now
now im sorry if you already know this but there are two i7's the 8xx's and the 9xx's
the 15 and 8xx i7's are skt 1156
the i7 9xx are 1366
since you are going for i5 you can upgrade to a i7 8 series but to go 9 series of i9 in the future you will have to get a new motherboard
HDD: F3 500gb or F3 1tb your choice really
Case: it all depends on how much you want to spend here are some good cases
£40 antec 300
£60 CM 690 or the Lancool k-58
i dunno about the more expensive cases
fans: Xilence Red wing, cheap quite good air flow what more could you want
connect it all to a corsair 750w PSU and you are done
NOTE: at that budget £200 gone on a SSD is not a good idea it will really throttle the cash you have left for the rest of the build

Thx for the replies so far.

I will stick with a Socket 1156 motherboard and restrict any processor upgrades from the build i5 to an i7 8xxx series CPU - Any recommendations for a suitable Socket 1156 board ?

Could you please expand on the F3 500gb HDD ?

If the SSD is restricting the choice of quality components for the rest of the build would an additional £100 improve things much or only slightly ?

No O/S required, I have that.

One last question, if there were a maximum of £100 more available in my budget where would be the best place to use it, ie, which components would be replaced (Not i5 or ATI 5850) ?

id say at 11 hundren you have two choices either this which is a little extra on the motherboard a blu ray writer and an exta 100w on the psu
