Issues

1. My current monitor has a VGA connection, the MOBO only has Serial and therfore the monitor will not connect MOBO.
I can however connect it to th Graphics card, but nothing comes on screen when I switch on the PC. I can't install the graphics driver as I haven't even installed the OS yet!

2. The Hard disk just sits in a bay on top of 4 rubber grommits and is not attached to the case in any way, does this make sense?

3. The Hard disk did not come with a SATA cable, I assume that I need to buy one of these seperatley?

Thanks everyone, to answer some of the points.

2. The Hard disk just sits in a bay on top of 4 rubber grommits and is not attached to the case in any way, does this make sense?
- ok, got lots of screws supplied with the case, so I think problerm solved on this one, will fix HD through the rubber grommits.

3. The Hard disk did not come with a SATA cable, I assume that I need to buy one of these seperatley?
- did find a SATA cable that came with the case and connected the HD, will need to buy one for my DVD RW though, no cables supplied with it and only one supplied with the case.

Some of the other points.

My monitor has the male VGA connection, it's female counterpart does not exist on the MOBO. I have therefore fitted the Graphics card, which does have the female VGA connection. I have fitted this to the PCI-e 16X slot.
Graphics card does not have as seperate power supply.
Switching on the PC does not send anything to the monitor.

I have connected the square 4 plug into the mother board.

Switching on the PC starts the case fans and the CPU fan, but that seems to be about it.

I have connected the PSU to the following places:

I am not sure if it beeps, I am not infront of the PC now unfortunatley.

Hard to miss out a PSU cable when the 3 main ones are always connected lol.

I'm starting up my new PC tonight after building it last night, haven't touched the jumper, shouldn't need to really in a brand new board.

3 main ones, I only have 2 PSU cables connected to my mobo, am I missing something?

Will check the jumper settings tonight.

just to say your gonna have a hard time installing vista seeing as you only have 1 sata cable :S

unless you have a spare ide drive hanging around.

if you still cant get it to fire up, set it up outside of the case to see if its shorting on anything.

 I get that, I am just trying to get to the BIOS screen at the moment.

The monitor should work via the Graphics card, even though I have not installed any drivers etc. I have just plugged it into the mobo, is this correct?

ok thanks, I will need a another sata cable to connect my DVD RW.

I will check everything again tonight, but get ready for some photos if I can't get it sorted :D

Well, I am typing this from my new PC !!! :D:D: woooooo hoooooo.

Turns out I hadn't actually done too much wrong at all. I had the RAM in slots 1+2, not 1+3.
Took out the graphics card, had a look at it, told it that it better sort it's act out, put it back and voila, it worked (ok so i probably didn't click it in fully the first time:( )

New SATA cable, 50p from local PC fix it shop, Vista installed and everything up and running.

Thanks EVERYONE for your help, much appreciated.
If I can ever help anyone with SAP Business Warehouse, then let me know, I do know how that works:D:D
