PC will be used for light gaming nothing excessive

Mainly Sims type games and the new inZOI (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2456740/inZOI/) which is showing pretty high specs for recommended.

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10/11
  • Processor: intel i7 12700k, AMD Ryzen 7 7800x3D
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA RTX 3070 (8G VRAM), AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT (16GB VRAM)
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 60 GB available space
fancy RGB isnt required

Willing to spend a decent bit for long term functionality (to lat 3+ years and easily upgradeable)
(£1500-2000) Closer to the £1500 would be the ideal option

Something like this would be the top end overkill spec but would likely last 5years

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,948.79 (includes delivery: £0.00)

You're over spending in some areas tbh, you could shave things down a fair bit and get a faster system out of it to boot.

M-ATX as that's my personal preference, but you could spec an ATX build for a similar cost.

- Faster GPU, aka a 9070XT instead of vanilla.
- Better NvME, I'd normally spec 2TB but since you went with 1TB I'm assuming that's ample storage.
- 9800X3D rather than the older 7800X3D.
- Air cooler which is ample for the CPU under gaming loads, if you would prefer an AiO for aesthetics I'd recommend looking at the Arctic Freezer III range, just be wary that their radiators are a bit thicker than standard so make sure it'll fit whichever case you choose.
- A case which actually comes with fans fitted.
- £240 cheaper.

There have been some concerns regarding Asrock boards and X3D chips on the current platforms, but as far as I'm aware as long as you run the most up to date bios you should be fine.

Tbh you could probably get away with a 7600 or 9600 CPU and save a good few hundred quid, I suppose it depends on how demanding that new inZOI game is as I don't know much about it.

Didnt realise the 9800X3D had dropped so much in price. would mean shes got the better CPU than me lol

Dont mind paying more for a decent PSU and Mobo as they are the backbone of any future upgrades.

AMD is obviously the way to go for Performance and Value for money. So definately looks like can get a good spec system for around the £1500... so might even have soom for her to upgrade to a nicer monitor too.

The baby B850 in our specs even have PCI-E 5.0 graphics, so they're not bad. If I was going to buy the Vertex then based on the price you quoted I'd get Antec's HCG Pro (derived from the Vertex) instead.

The PSU's and motherboards myself and Tetras have listed would be fine for anything gaming related for the life of AM5 tbh, unless Nvidia goes utterly insane with the 6090.

If you do want to spend more on the PSU the Antec HCG Pro Platinum 850w comes in at £10 less than the Seasonic you listed, and Seasonic is the OEM of the unit.

Edit: Tetras beat me to it!
