So a guy i know wanted some help with a nice new rig, he has about 2k to spend and so i suggested him this + the asus rampage 3 extreme wen it gets released, Any one got any suggestions? this excluding rampage 3 is 1.7 i guessed the r3e will be about/around the £300 mark when it comes. the F3's will be in raid0.

He wants to have his PC by the end of next month.

Reason for extra fans: 'i want it to look cool'

He is happy with this but i wanted some other input and as this is ver similar to my buid i am interested to see what people think.

Why the two cases?

How about adding a SSD and just one harddrive.

Apart from that first question, its perfect.

Edit. You don't need the fans, the case already has a blue glow from its fans through the front and top, its also already extremely well cooled not to need any more.

A single SSD will leave a raid array in its dust! If you made an error selecting two cases then the money saved, plus only choosing one hard drive can be used to fund one.

Oops there realy isnt meant to be 2 cases there :P my mistake.

As for the SSD the guy is only interested in graphics and i figured that the 2 f3's in raid0 will be fast anough! SSD are also so expensive and to put a full steam directory and the OS onto one your looking at about 120+GB and therefore £300+ of SSD which is a little to much when ur allready spending this much considereing there wont be that much difference, exept loading battlefield badcompany a little faster but cmon its not worth £300 unless u have anough money to go that little further

Ye i do see what you mean but other than loading things a little faster, or a lot faster in some cases, what other benefits does it give you to gameplay? And is it easy to manage an SSD? a Question i need for my new build as i have gone for an SSD.

An SSD helps a little in games - mainly for loading, but the benefit isn't huge. An SSD really shines when you are in windows and messing around with files and loading things up - the whole experience is much snappier.

If you take Andi suggested ram, don't pick the fans(not needed) and only the one case.

The money saved=SSD

well ive never used multiple drives only in raid0 which is slightly different.

For instance if i were to have my OS and a couple of games from steam on there, would that be simple to set up?

Aye, it will work fine. Just install the OS on the SSD along with your most used applications and games - this will likely be called the C drive.

You can then put any files and applications that don't need lightning-quick speed on the HDD. These files and apps will run just fine on the secondary disk.

Well yer i get that. Just wondering how things will work in program files etc? thats the only thing i get a bit confused with. would i create 2 seperate program files on each HDD or what?

Any games you want to play will just be installed onto C: which will be the SSD.

D: which will be the samsung will store music, drivers, videos, pictures, porn and game images of stuff I recently play.

When I want to install a game, I install onto C:.

Plus if I have to reinstall windows I don't lose a thing.

Ok thanks for the info. only thing now is to decide wether to buy the asus p58xd or wait for the rampage. not sure if its gonna be worth it at the moment. some mixed reveiws.
