Hi all,
I'm new here so I may just introduce myself.
I'm 22. I'm a student. I'm Italian but I've been living in the Uk for the past three years and I recently moved to Scotland.
My first build was a Core 2 Duo 6600 on an Asus P5W DH Deluxe with an ati X1950... But that was 2007 (or 2006
) and since I moved to the Uk I have been stuck with an old Acer laptop.
I use my computer for normal daily tasks plus some moderate gaming and photo editing. As far as gaming goes I play almost anything. I really hate and find unacceptable to have less than 65 fps in any shooter as a minimum. I am looking forward to play Diablo III, ES5 Skyrim, Portal 2 and Brink, so ideally the build would go towards being able to perform well in those titles
I do not really care for the likes of Crysis or Metro.
My build would be:
My goal is to have a stable 4-4.5ghz overclock in the most quiet possible case.
Later additions considered are:
+ 4gb ram
+ GTX560ti
+ 1.5T Sata 3 HDD
To be paired with a 22' Monitor with a resolution of 1680x1050. Yes I will lose the ability to reproduce 1080p but, please correct me if I am wrong, almost all the benchmarks I can find (anadtech, tom'shardware, guru3d etc etc) for 1920x1080 monitors don't shine in minimum fps performance.
I was ready to take the plunge next week and buy the system.
BUT, I have two thing that are nagging me.
1) Intel Series 6 Chips SATA 2 problems
My chosen board has 6 SATA 3 and 3 SATA 2. I was planning to use only two SATA 3 connections. One for the SSD and one for a later storage HDD addition. Should I go ahead or be weary of Sandy Bridge until new chips are out? (March
)
2)Will the PSU be able to support another GTX560Ti in the future?
I know it's kind of a silly question, 750 should be plenty enough... but just to be sure
!
If you have any suggestions, tweaks or specific products to recommend please do!
EDIT:
I forgot to mention that I plan to keep this system for at least 4-5 years. So longevity of the items under stress and time span has to be considered!
