Builder messed up my tiling

First of all I have called the contractor to come tomorrow and have a look at his tilers handy work and pay to get the feature tile replaced and done properly.

I came home to check on the progress of the bathroom in my loft conversion and the feature wall behind the sink where the water pipe comes out from looked like this:

Not only did he manage to **** up the hole but he made another hole for no reason at all.

I paid to have all tiling done and I supplied the materials and I've not seen such an amateur **** up for a long time. I'm not a happy bunny, as these feature tiles weren't cheap.

This is how it is meant to be done:

I have a pedestal type standing sink. Maybe in my anger I didn't get my post across correctly but the hole is in the wrong place completely as well as his skills in cutting a hole for the pipework. The builder that did the tiling also did the plumbing, now my confidence has been knocked completely.

As you can see in the picture the pipes should come out near the top that join into the tap's connectors.

What am I looking at here?
He appears to have deliberately cut the other tiles around a vertical area behind the sink, and then made the adhesive level with surrounding tiles?

Pedestal sinks normally have the pipework hidden inside the pedestal, not coming out of the wall behind them.

What do you mean by 'hidden inside the pedestal"? The taps need to connect to the pipework and with the way he has done it if he chases the pipe up along the pedestal then there will be copper pipe showing from the bottom base and it will look crap.

The proper way to do it in my book is like this
http://www.homedepot.com/c/seven_steps_to_install_a_pedestal_sink_HT_PG_PL

Look at step 4-5, once the sink is attached the pedestal will cover up the pipework.

Lol it's not adhesive people. :) That's the tile that he has butchered

Ah I see what you mean, mine is a narrower C shape which doesn't reach the wall, if it did then I could see how the pipes could then hide behind the alcove.

Tiler has been sacked, contractor said he will fix it and even told the tiler if he needed his cutting tools to do the job properly before carrying out the work, which he refused.

We have the staircase guys in today doing finishing so the bathroom won't resume until next week. As for my confidence everything needs to pass local council building regs, so he told me not to worry. We've already had the council visit twice and pass both stages of the build but there is one stage left and when the work is complete they will check electrics, fire rating stuff etc.

Does depend on the wall construction TBH
We once had a Wall mounted double sink to fit in a house with celcon block wall construction
Ended up having to cut out Two blocks and replace with concrete blocks to get a fixing all because the customer did not tell us what he was wanting fixed (the sink must have weighed 50KG:p no joking!!)

This is the main reason why we have a pedestal. Sure a wall hung sink would be nice and make cleaning the floor easier too but having a pedestal is a non issue for us.

A better picture showing perspective of the situation

So going back a little, what else is the 30 cm2 'floor' space used for then?

bog rolls? :p

but seriously in our bathroom downstairs we have a cabinet under the sink and it stores toiletries, cleaners and towels. If you have a wall that can take the weight or prefer the designs of non pedestal sinks then the cabinet space is useful.

Now has been rectified by a builder who ironically worked on the builds in Cowboy builders.

The whole industry is one big botch job tbh, no wonder the Poles want a slice of the pie :p
