Im dont have any projects to work on at the moment and im on a bit of a tight budget for the next month so i have been thinking about building a custom PC case from scratch.

Over the next few months im planning on puting phase cooling in for my CPU and watercooling for the graphics cards. This will not fit in my current case and rather then spending £100 on a good case i would prefer to spend £50 and build something myself :)

Im thinking of going for a desktop/shuttle/cube style of case in layers so i could have the WC pump and res in the bottom with the phase cooler, Motherboard in the middle section and drives at the top with the WC Rad (though im still thinking of building a rad that will go outside my house :) ).

If anyone has any links to any similar projects i wouldnt mind some links :) Found a few via google but the more the better.

The only thing im not 100% sure on is what material to make it out of. Aluminum/steel would be the best bet but is likely to be more expensive and harder for me to work with.

I would like it to be all acrilic but im worried about the fact that the case wont be grounded and that acrilic builds up a static charge pretty quickly. Anyone know a way to work around this?

It will come close to the cost of buying your own for £100 probably.

For the motherboard mounting you can just cut up a old case, saves a lot of time.

If you check the sticky the full ATX specification is available as a PDF, very useful for minium dimensions. :)

Yeah i was thinking that it would probably end up costing more or the same as if i just bought one. But it wont be all in one go so i can at least pretend it didnt cost very much :)

Im looking through all the bits in the sticky now but must have overlooked that, will be very useful thanks.
