Hi guys,

so the budget he has is between £650-£750, just need the componeants and he just wants it purely for gaming. Can any of you guys build a basket for me?

Thanks so much in advance

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £761.15
(includes shipping: £12.30)

GPU discount code:
Zot1060

How about something like that so he can start playing a few games and has the OS/programs on an SSD, then easily add a larger storage drive later?

Note that depending on date of manufacture/BIOS version, the motherboard may need to be sent back to OcUK for them to update it to a Ryzen 5 CPU compatible BIOS.

You joined in 2008 so I imagine you have free shipping by now, if you've activated it?

Thanks for this build mate, I will speak to my friend and see what he thinks, looks really good. Is there any way to maybe include another hard drive in the same price? It's just I think one might be a bit limiting for him. Maybe switch the SSD for a 120GB and include a decent HDD?

Cheapest "decent" HDD is the Seagate ST1000 1TB. You could get that along with a 120GB low end SSD.
The thing about the mobo needing a bios flash (probably but not definitely) is definitely something to keep in mind. If OCUK can't do it for you before they ship I would consider going another route.

Maybe a low end i5 on a dirt cheap motherboard.

Boot drive only 120GB will limit him in the long run too. Some stuff likes to be on the boot drive, although sometimes you can get lucky if you don't happen to use any such programs/games. With 250GB I can't see him not having enough for one or two months until he can spend £40 on a mech drive, plug it in, click Format and Bob's your uncle without sacrificing anything like SSD size, or dropping CPU or GPU tier. If he needed more right-away he'd probably already have a 1TB drive he could keep using, right? I mean if he put two or three big size games on it... that's a lot of content to play for months. Then again I don't know all the details nor do I need to know. Just thinking out loud.

Here's another option:

The OcUK staff are probably going to hate me for making too many suggestions to take them up on their invite to modify components in that Battlebox system lol. And I note they state "small changes" lol. Ah well maybe they are feeling generous this week. Price probably changes Wednesday noon. Great offer while it lasts.

Anyway, if they can take out Windows 10 (-£94.99), and the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (-£119.99) and the 2TB Barracuda (-£59.99), and they add the Crucial MX300 275GB SSD and 1TB P300, it could come out to £745.99. Bear in mind they may value parts differently compared to the same components sold individually. Still, worth a shot. Maybe it works out well for them too.

Only thing is, you wanted to build it for him, you said. Which is why I didn't suggest it earlier. At the moment though, it offers better value for money than buying parts and building it yourself (a rare thing). Nice mobo too.
