Im building a conroe rig very soon, but i have put off the build because i dont know which board to get. Im looking at Asus P5N32-SLi Premium WiFi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 .Is this the board to get? I only want asus, i love asus, just not sure which board to get.Oh, and i will be using an E6600 Conroe chip also, thanks guys.

I shall be building a Conroe rig soon, but it has been a long time since I did any mobo research. From what I have gathered so far, there should be a new wave of boards coming out for Conroe later this month or next so I'm waiting for these and the reviews.

Does any one have any pointers on where to look on these points:

Chipset ? My last intel board was a Abit BE6 (BX chipset) and I would be tempted to go intel/intel on the cpu/board, unless anybody can give me a good reasons to go nvidia or someone else?

I always hear of issues with nvidia n force, but are they now any good?

Looking for maximum stability - i'm not really into overclocking. Will probably build this system for KDE4 which is due out begin of next year.

Just looked up that board, looks pretty nicely specced. But would need to see alternatives to gauge the value/

I know you said you love asus, but personaly I've found that recently some of their boards are underperforming.
the gigabyte seems good (ds3/ds4) if you want an alternative, or maybe the new Abit boards.

Cheers Vent. I have read a lot about the new asus boards not really performing as they should. Shame though, i really do love the asus brand, its always been very good to me. Abit let me down years ago and i swore i will never use them again, cutting my nose off, i know :) I just love all the features on the new asus board that i mentioned, its just chock full off features and best of all its nforce5, so it cant be that bad. What you think :)

I've not been intel much until recently, is NF5 the just comming out/just out chipset, or the one thats being replaced?
because aparently the new chipset is a stinker!
one boards already been pulled because of the new NF chipset it was based on giving lower than expected output (was the new DFI!)

Yeah, this board ,Asus P5N32-SLi Premium WiFi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 , is out in the next two weeks, and from what i have read, its an absoloute stinker.Just a high price tag, but its full of features ,and is for the overclocker and gamer. Its about £180, which is a lot, but comes with everything, and i mean everything. This board will have to last me a few years, so i cant afford to get this decision wrong. Cheers, paul.

I'd wait for the Abit AW9D-MAX tbh
I'm REALY tempted to get this board over the DS4 that I Was going to get.

Looking at the abit i would have honestly thought that was theyre low to mid range. It has not got many features and does even support sli properly, very poor. I know the asus board is a lot more money, but it is truely feature rich and future proof.I just dont like the damn price tag on asus though :(

I would honestly wait a few weeks to get a more stable mobo

As lots of people are experiencing a wave of probs with the current mobos...

Last thing you want is to get a mobo and then have to wait a while for RMA if god forbid anything was to go wrong..

I just finished building mine, first build for me for about 4 years and was really nervous after all the posts on here about problems but was given a DS3 so thought it had to be worth the risk.
I ordered E6300, Artic Cooler Pro7 cooler, 2gb Corsair XMS6400C5 and the BFG7600GT form Overclockers and screwed it all together and it worked straight away will no hassles whatsoever.
I fell into the trap of waiting for the new super cpu/motherboard/graphics card that will be released at the end of the month but I regret now that I stuck with my old stuff so long. If you need it now then buy now, if not wait because you can be sure something better will always be out in another month.
