How do i get the back end of the table the same shape as the wall when the walls in my room are not even left to right or up and down, they buldge a bit and are a little warped in places. dont really want 2-3 inches of filler there if i can help it.

Any ideas?

Going to be a computer desk in the end.

you can leave a small gap running along the back so that you can drop down cables through it. (assuming you are going to have a monitor, speakers, keyboard and mouse on the desk)

It'll depend on what the desk is made out of and what tools you have available but for a solid wood (or MDF) desk you could use a jigsaw to shape the back of the desk roughly. This will be unlikely to work at all well with chipboard unless you've got a good method of sealing up the damaged back - also be aware that it may gunge up the blades with the adhesive, particularly as they heat up.

No kind of sponge / rubber i can shape to the wall, then put on the wood and cut to shape or anything like it? Just wondering as im not woodsmith but too tight to pay for one to come and do it as they charge a fortune!

Plus, im sure its going to be fun!

You could use extruded foam I suppose, all you'd need is a Stanley knife to cut it. Be careful of the glue you use to attach it though as some will melt/damage the foam; if you are unsure then ask in the DIY store what to use to fix foam to wood.

Not so sure about rubber, it should be possible but I don't know enough to really begin to advise.

I think he means as a template for the wall contour as oppose to gluing it to the table.

Push desk against wall, stick a small piece of wood between a pencil/crayon and against the wall and follow the contour of the wall with said piece of wood whilst drawing along the desk. The line drawn should then match the contour of the uneven wall face. Make sense? Didnt think so! It does work though, i've watched my old man do it.

get the desk as close as u can then stick some beeding if its just a bit uneven

or saw a large inward curve the length of the desk so u can get all the cableing down it then it looks like its not ment to be flush with the wall.

just an idea

pics would be helpful

Yeah thats what I'd do.

Its a pretty much exact copy of the wall represented as a line on your precut desk.

Follow line with jigsaw means your desk fits.

I did mean as a template, but attaching some foam to the end of the desk sounds fun to do, will give that a go.

well, if you work metal your a blacksmith, so why not a woodsmith :)

The pencil idea sounds good, will give that a go as it makes sense now you have said it.

Cheers all.

I wood cut a template to the shape of the wall out of carboard and transfer the shape to the back of the desk. Spend some time getting the template fitting well and you'll have a good snug fit at the back of the desk.

Or use 10 tubes of mastic and gloop the gap in :p
