So where?
Hello you lovely people, I hope your day is heavenly as mine. :)

To the matter at hand.

I have a dslr body without a built in commander mode. (Nikon d5100, had I known I would have grabbed a d7000 instead)

I would like to steer the system towards off-camera lighting.

If I understand things right, my options are;

Sb-700/sb-900 as a commander on camera.

With

A slave/s flash off camera.

I understand that I can use sync cord for a single flash, but unsure with multiple flashes.

My questions;

1) Is it worth considering rf triggers. For the body, then all the flashes. I can see pocket wizard are the benchmark, but I'm just dipping my toe in at the moment. Yongnuo rf triggers alright to begin with?

2) I'm looking at the sb-700/900 flash + slave flash. I understand the yongnuo 560 ex is a solid and inexpensive choice. Is that a good combination or another brand for the slave?

I have read the strobist, however, it won't sink in until I actually stand in front and do it. I really don't mind having to learn Manual if ned be.

A huge thank you to any and all replies.

Note: reason for being happy today, got some suga! :D
