Not sure if this is classified small form factor but I was thinking about building a HTPC but not sure how to approach it. Is it basically the same as building a standard pc and what kind of considerations do I need to make for components?

A rough spec would be great too.

Cheers

EDIT: Just spotted the weekly system builds thread has some specs, just some advice on how to approach it would be cool ;)

BTW I will be using a Panasonic TX-37LZD85

Never built one myself so my advice isnt going to be great, and I cant spec you one as it'd be the blind leading the blind. hat being said what you need to consider is: cooling is not as good in these cases so major OC'ing is a no no, and space tends to be at a premium so some of the bigger gfx cards may well not fit - you want to be looking at low profile cards etc.
Sorry couldnt be more help

Thanks for the info guys, as you say 95thrifles I will probably have to shy away from overclocking and I'm ok with that as long as I can get the required performance and also keep it fairly quiet - I won't be using it for gaming so I just need good playback capability so any ideas if onboard will suffice or will I need something like the 4350/4550 or 46XX? That thread looks pretty useful Valo, reading through it now, cheers.

Aim for an hdmi enabled motherboard and you wont need a gfx card for 90% of htpc uses... Just a decent dual core cpu to do the work...
