Hi all,

I have built a few PCs over the years, usually high end around the times of big games releases to be able to play them on the highest settings.

I sold my gaming PC around 6 months ago and want to get back into gaming so looking for a new PC but am not interested in the newer games. I want to use it to mostly play starcraft 2 and diablo 3, maybe some sim city etc. I'm not bothered about FPS's anymore.

Since I don't need a top end PC for these games I am a bit lost. Since I am just used to buying the best Specs I can afford at the time I have never really taken much interest in the more value based components.

Can you please suggest what CPU (intel pref) and GFX card would be ok for this? I am just going to go with 4gb ram, a 128gb SSD and a 24" monitor.

If you want to put a spec together that would be great, I would need windows but don't bother with keyboard and mouse as I'll look into those seperately (I'd like to go back to having a mechanical keyboard)

Thanks

First off, what's your budget?

This is what I would recommend, but depending on your budget, this will obviously change.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Iiyama Prolite E2482HSD 24" Widescreen LED Monitor - Black £139.99
1 x AMD A10-5800K Black Edition 3.80GHz (Socket FM2) APU Trinity Quad Core Processor (AD580KWOHJBOX) £99.95
1 x Plextor M5S 128GB Solid State Drive - (PX-128M5S) £82.99
1 x Gigabyte F2A85XM-D3H AMD A85X Chipset (Socket FM2) DDR3 micro ATX Motherboard £61.99
1 x TeamGroup Xtreem LV 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-17000C11 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit (TXD38G2133HC11DC01) £49.99
1 x NZXT Source 210 Elite Midi Tower Case - Black £39.98
1 x XFX Pro 450W Core Edition '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £39.95
Total : £529.85 (includes shipping : £12.50).

For the type of games you are looking to play, I recommend Trinity. More than capable to run your games, low heat, noise & cost. The integrated graphics will be perfect for this.

No real budget, I just don't want to overspend on a PC that is mega fast when I don't need it. I don't mind whether it is quad core or dual core, it's more of a spec of PC around those games mentioned.

Would setup you up nicely. You can add a GPU later if you want more gaming grunt, always look for B grade bargains. You can download the .iso and give the Windows 8 Enterprise (evaluation) edition a free trial for 3 months. You can then buy the OS after making an informed decision ;)
