Hi guys,
ive recently managed to get a lot of duel core pcs from a couple years ago (10 desktops)
i was thinking about turning them into a cluster in my room (mwuhahaha free electric)

I was thinking about using vnc servers on them all for setting them up when there working, and linking them to a switch,
my internet to my main pc is from a usb wifi connection so is it possible to bridge these connections? eg wifi and eathernet so that the cluster has internet too
Will be running backtrack on all the cluster pcs,
So does anyone know any decent ways to do this?

with your main pc being the "boss" id imagin youd just connect all 10 to the switch, then the router to the switch and then connect wifi with your main rig to controll them all?

i do not have a router
its a hotspot in the hostel im in (included with rent)
so if i connected a eathernet from the main rig to the switch
and bridged the connections would it work

What exactly will you be doing with the cluster?

I'm just curious because there isn't many HPC programs that take advantage of clustering for general users.
I have a 2PC network myself and have thought a lot about clustering them, eventualy I found the only thing I personaly could benefit in would be mpeg2 encoding (which is now useless since I started using 264) so I just haven't bothered with it.

Mostly password cracking / rainbow table generation
Proberly lob a couple cuda cards in each of them once the mobos replaced
or just run seti in downtime
