Hello all. I would just like to say greetings to everyone on the forums before I start.

Now that the formalities are done, down to business. I'm going to be building a new gaming rig with the introduction of Core 2 Duo processors and would like some advice on better components etc. Here is the list of what I will be buying

Core 2 Duo E6300 1.86GHz
DFI Infinity 975X Motherboard
2GB Corasir XMS2-6400 RAM
Sapphire Radeon X1900XT
Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10 250GB
NEC ND3550
OCZ ModStream 450W PSU
Thermaltake Armour Jr case

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer me.

Regards,
Hidden Hippo

Core 2 Duo E6300 1.86GHz
DFI Infinity 975X Motherboard
2GB Corasir XMS2-6400 RAM <-------- try some of the geil stuff
Sapphire Radeon X1900XT <------------- good choice, comes with games
Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10 250GB <---------- change for raptor or seagate
NEC ND3550
OCZ ModStream 450W PSU
Thermaltake Armour Jr case <---- unsure about build quality or value, ask yewen

I had a look at the GeIL stiff, but it was only 633MHz. I think I'd like the extra speed and the overclockability from the XMS2. If you can think up an alternative without breaking the bank (I looked at the OCZ Platinum series with the incredible timings, but it was a tad expensive) I'd be happy to hear them. Ideally I'd like to keep the cost below £1000. Changing the HDD shouldn't be hard, especially considering that storage space costs nothing these days.

Thanks for the fast replies though.

Edit: Would the G. Skill 2GB NR PC2-6400 be better?

Seasonic make the best PSU the one you choose is new and unknown

Lian Li make the best quailty cases.

Seagate make the best hard drives

The Gskillz memory is the popular choice at the mo.

I'd recommend getting an 1800 graphics card and a E6600 cpu because of directX 10

Thanks for the responses. I've changed the RAM to the G. Skill 2GB ND PC2-6400, the PSU is a Seasonic S12 430W and the HDD is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB. I've decided against downgrading the graphics card as I am unlikely to be getting a DX10 card the moment they come out. This is because I want to make sure that any issues are ironed out first. Also, there will be very few games which require DX10 the moment it comes out (I hope).

Edit: Decided on the E6400 instead of the E6300. As stated, it's only £30.
